I think this hotel is aspiring to be a high end hotel but is in need of a renovation.
Lobby is nice, comfortable and inviting, but thats where it ends.
Stayed twice at beginning and end of Oz trip. Both rooms were comfortable and everything was in order but take a glance at the ceiling and there is mould, leak stains etc.
Location is amazing so close to darling harbour, china town, powerhouse museum, Paddy's markets, if the hoetl was better quality I probably could not have afforded to stay there, so if you can get a good deal and avoid looking at ceiling then this hotel is great for a relaxed stay.
I completely agree about the $15 breakfast. Had just arrived after a 14hr flight and paid our $30 for brekkie thinking this was the going rate - incredibly disappointed when we sat down, it took about 30 seconds to survey the 'buffet' I am not sure it would pass an environmental health inspection! It was disgusting and as our 1st Aussie breakfast we were incredibly disappointed. Next morning a 10min walk around darling harbour revealed a wide variety of brekfast options for just a few more dollars - the difference was unbelievable!

Check in and out was slow but staff were helpful. The $12 per night extra cot charge is a bit excessive when you are staying for a few consecutive nights.

The first room we were put in (room 322) had a broken hair dryer, 1 flat bad pillow for each person, 4 coat hangers for 2 people, poor flushing toilet, air conditioning ineffective (they said their maintenance people set it only to heat in the winter, though it was May) which made the room really stuffy, and the lock on the flyscreen door was broken. To top it off noisy guests were in the 2 rooms beside us. Despite reassurances that they would be spoken to, nothing was done.
We requested to be moved to another room, and the first she gave us was 2 doors down from the noisy guests! We were then moved to another room (room 204) where the beds were worse, so unsupportive and on one bed, when you sat down, the mattress sunk down to the base of the bed. Again, only 1 bad pillow per person and again a shortage of coat hangers.
Overall hotel decor was in poor condition with picture missing, holes in the walls, hanging wallpaper and ripped carpet.
This hotel needs a major makeover. Hotel information is poorly out of date offering "new DVD movies" such as Terminator 2 and the cost of a taxi to the airport as being AUD$25, when in actual fact it is closer to AUD$45.
While it is in a great location in proximity to Darling Harbour, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is good value for the price, but in this instance, cheap equates to cheap and nasty.

This hotel offered quality accommodation in inner Sydney for a special deal advance purchase. The advertised one night for 2 people deal was sold for around $130 and the printed voucher said it was worth $245. There were conditions - black out dates and a request for early booking and rooms subject to availability. I wrote asking for a booking (I did not mention the deal as the voucher just said hand over on arrival). I was offered two kinds of room - standard at $159 and superior at $179 with extra for parking and breakfast. I wrote back accepting the deal and provided the voucher number. The hotel advised that they did not have available rooms, that 'voucher rooms' had all gone and perhaps later in the year would be better.
I have major problems with this attitude and failure to honour a promise:
1. available rooms are not available for pre-purchased voucher holders
2. the cost of the room was not much more than the voucher, but it said the deal was worth $245.
3. the attitude of the hotel staff was of complete lack of responsibility or sense of obligation.
I will never go to find out if this hotel has quality rooms and fittings. They are dishonourable.

In a nutshell, go there.

If you want to be close to everything, yet still feel relaxed, this is your hotel. This would be a perfect hotel for an affordable, comfortable and relaxed family getaway to see the sights of Sydney, to anyone who wants to be near everything they need to do in Sydney
Above all the customer service was impeccable. Any query, and the reception staff were fantastic. Which for us was highly valued as it made us feel very comfortable and valued. Especially as we were there for an intensive two day course at UTS. (which if you are going to is two blocks away, 5min walk, just cut through the 'Tafe' building, which we did with no hassle both days).

I have noticed other reviews calling it outdated, personally, best value for money hotel I have ever stayed at. The room we stayed in (116) was just as nice, only smaller than a hotel I stayed last year that was more than double the price.

Everything I want in a hotel, relaxing, safe, nice interior, easy access to everything, value for money and above all being valued as a customer, I found in this hotel.

Our only problem was the restraunt.
We had the "$15 extra" breakfast and were very disappointed. The fruit wasn't fresh, the hot food was unappetizing, there was little variety for a 'buffet' breakfast and they even served what we assumed to be last night's left overs as a part of their hot food.

We later found out the restaurant is a seperately run business. Which made a lot of sense when our dealings with the reception staff greatly polarized our experience with the restaurant.
The restaurant does have a pleasing atmosphere with a nice covered outside area and if you want the convenience of having breakfast before you go out for the day its fine. But only if you you want to get ripped off at $15 per person, per day, for off fruit and hot food the caliber of a bad overnight school excursion. They only food I liked was a bowl of nutrigrain cereal and a piece of toast with butter and jam.

I highly agree with "melwollongong" positive review of their family's experience. And like her, I "will definitely be staying here" for all my future trips to Sydney. Just not having the breakfast in the restaurant, which has not tainted my great experience at the hotel, as it is a separately run business.

Overall, go there.

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Central Station. Once you figure out which exit to take from the station the hotel is easy to find.

As other reviews suggest the reception is dated and dark, but the staff were friendly and helpful.

The room itself was large but very dark and again dated, but held 2 comfortable double beds. The Bathroom was large and clean and had Shower Gel, Shampoo, Shaving Gel and body lotion available.

We needed to checkout by 10.00 but our flight wasn't unit 18.00. The hotel has a complimentary secure storage room so that you can store your luggage.

There is nothing much in the local area but the train & Monorail stops are within 5 minutes walk, or you can easily walk to Darling Harbour or the rocks along George or Pitt street which are both a couple of roads from the station. The walk to the rocks took us 20-25 minutes at a comfotable pace and with a 12 year old in tow.

Overall this hotel is nice if a bit shabby.

Could not believe that I could find a hotel room that sleeps 5-6 people, in the heart of the city of Sydney for only $135 during Easter/School holiday period. Parking was only $10 and covered us from 6am on the day of check-in until 6pm the day of checkout!

We took advantage and arrived at the hotel at 10.30am and I was amazed that our room was ready (even though check-in was not until 2pm) and the friendly staff were happy for us to check-in straight away!

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Very quiet and bed was very comfortable, great night's sleep. Location was good, a 10 minute walk to George Street where you can catch the free 555 bus to key Sydney sights. 5-10 minute walk to Darling Harbour.

I was impressed with this hotel (for the price) and will definitely be staying here for my next family trip to Sydney.

The location is good once we found our way around. Nothing much in the immediate area except the great coffee shop near by where we had breakfast. Mostly things shut for Easter as it is a business area. The rooms are clean and roomy but the common areas leave a lot to be desired. The hotel has signs for restaurants but there are none and the breakfast looked old and commercial. The staff friendly but I would find somewhere better next time.
