“great seafood, relaxed dining”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

this place is a gem for a casual seafood meal, either lunch or dinner. Expect a range of quality specials on offer but the fixed menu has enough to satisfy. We felt everything we had was simple fresh food prepared well and cooked perfectly with the odd good surprise flavour coming through. Limited selection of wine by the glass but enough in the bottle range and plenty of cocktails to kick start an evening. Desserts were the biggest surprise, fantastic. Only walk up, no reservations, but the team works hard to get you a seat but be prepared to share tables with others and majority of seating is high stools and benches. Place has a good buzz and staff were efficient, knowledgable and friendly. Food arrived in good time. Also do takeaway but again you can't place phone orders.

“Expensive for what it is”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

This is basically a cafe tucked away in Potts Point, with prices aspiring to be a restaurant proper.
I was charged $11 for a supposed glass of house wine! We didn't stay to eat but the place had custom at 5 in the afternoon. Service was good.

“A real fish shop experience in the middle of Sydney”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2012

This is a great spot. The decor is fun (even though there are no sit down tables - which doesnt suit everyone, the stools and benchs are very comfortable).
The food is great. Oysters, fish and chips and a sensational coleslaw with celeriac are among the bites which are perfectly presented in old fashioned style, flavour and value.
Al the produce is seasonal and exceptionally fresh and well thought out. Only real set back is the wine list. It is dreadfully expensive and uninventive. Couldn't they consider matching the Australian produce with some regional wines?

“Get the cheeseburger!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

I enjoyed my meal here, but my partner wasn't so enamoured with The Fish Shop. The staff were friendly and helpful and the burger was amazing. That being said, the portions are incredibly small and expensive for what you get.

“The Fish Shop 22 Challis Avenue Potts Point 2011”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2012

What a great venue! Terrific fish good value themed restaurant - the theme is nautical based around a (real) and virtual fishing club. Liveried waitstaff in Guernsey stripes and three-quartered pants. We had cider mussels to share that were delicious and a couple of serves of fish that was five lightly battered pieces of succulent flathead with handcut chips, tartare and lemon. Homemade tartare strong with capers. I wasn't convinced by the ice cream sandwich. With 4 Cooper's Green Ales the bill for 2 -less than $100.
