I was surprised when my ex colleague took me to that place where on one side seems like an IKEA sort of corner and the opposite side was a crowded, full of life, restaurant with a very long queue of "happy to wait" customers.
Although there are plenty of tables inside and outside, but the place was full so be prepared to wait a bit before you can be seated. It is worth the wait though. With the different variety of food, salads, and desserts you would be happy to know that your waiting time was a time well spent. The meals are delicious and the variety are there for meat lovers and vegetarians as well.
The plate is rich and the serving is enough. The price a bit above average but not overly expensive. I was not surprised to know that a lot of the customers there came from farther areas and not just from around the corner.
Kitchen by Mike is a must try!

This restaurant is located at the end of an old warehouse which has been renovated but still with plenty of the original exposed beams and building structure. It therefore provides a very rustic appearance and experience. You line up to order the food and then take it to one of the many tables many of which are communal. The food was excellent, good value and beautifully presented. It was a most enjoyable experience and well worth doing again

Kitchen by Mike is installed in a converted factory or workshop, The space is huge and behind the cafe is a large sales are with often beautiful but incredibly expensive home-ware and design goods. You line up to order food and the wait can be up to 15 minutes or even more at busy times. You choose food and its is piled on plates which you then take to your seat at long communal tables. The food is exceptionally good: a variety of super fresh and innovative salads and some excellent fish and chicken. There is also pizza and a soup of the day. Plenty of choices for vegetarians and flesh eaters. The food is reasonably priced. Coffee and tea are ordered at a separate station. The concept is brilliant and the execution efficient. Parking nearby is often very difficult, however. But definitely worth a visit. There is plenty of outside seating available Breakfast and lunch. I'm not sure if it is open in the evening.

Our son and his family took us to Kitchen by Mike for lunch. It was a great experience with delicious food - simple food with communal tables - a real sense of community in the place, lining up to order your food and take it back to your table. We had salads, amazing margarita pizza slices, and good coffee. Not your normal lunchtime cafe as the rustic warehouse ambience is great.

Made the trip from the cbd to Kitchen by Mike for a beautiful lunch, super choice of salads, I opted for the goats cheese quiche - yummy - large slices of amazing fresh wood fire baked bread with beautiful butter and freshly squeezed juices.
Lovely communal tables and fun friendly service - well worth the trip.
