Best food and markets that happen at Chinatown. It’s an experience one has to take. Loved my time here. A must to do is the Korean barbecue .

We had just flown into Sydney (staying in a Darling Harbour Hotel) from Perth and were looking for a nice place to sit, watch the crowds go by and enjoy a Chinese meal. The Chinatown area is small but the mall has a lovely intimacy with various nationalities, live music, street performers and numerous restaurants with al fresco dining. We chose one that was busy but were pleasantly surprised with the 'many' course meal at a reasonable price. The food was cooked to perfection and as we sat outside we enjoyed the bustle of the crowds.
A definite place to visit when on a trip to Sydney.

Interesting part of Sydney. Worth the visit. There are lots of shops and lots of restaurants. Take the time to walk around.

The garden is walled off and you have to pay to get in.

The area on the streets with shopping and food is small. Food is good, we had dim sum. But all the souvenir shops in the market building are the same.

Wander through but don't plan to stay.

Chinatown is a fun place to visit in Sydney with amazing vibes of East Asia Culture, food and decor. With amazing restaurants all around, this place is hustling and bustling with life. Weekend nights is best place to be where once can see music, street performers, amazing decor, fine dine areas. A good place to visit when in Sydney.

A shadow of it’s days when we 1st visited many years ago. Indicative that the top restaurants on TA aren’t Chinese. We walked out of one ( see review) due to the stinking and filthy carpet, not good enough. The area just felt rundown and unloved.

we spent a week in Sydney and ate almost exclusively at Chinatown from the inexpensive food courts to the high end restaurants this place is amazing but a special mention goes to the hole in the wall right next to the Emperors Garden for the most amazing little treats that people will line up for ages for.

New visitors to Sydney might wonder what happened to the city’s nightlife and the vibrancy of years past. I still recommend those folk take a stroll to Chinatown, with some of the best restaurants and amazing hidden food courts including Sussex st Mall where for the last twenty years I’ve been going for the best chicken wonton laksa in Sydney.

...rather than just a tourist spot as in other cities. Although it may not be the centre of the Chinese community in terms of living space any more, it is still at the centre of a wider area of East Asian businesses, giving a huge range of dining options in particular.

The majority of venues in Sydney's Chinatown are well established and offer all usual Asian cuisine at reasonable prices.
