Wow is what you will say when you walk into your room. The fittout of the old Gowers building is excellent. The rooms are bathed in great lighting quality fitting and that special funkyness with lots of little touches and atmosphere that many boring old hotels dont have. The Bar and Grill on level 1 is superb. I had NZ line caught John Dory with butter sauce, wow what a beautiful meal.
The staff wear sexy uniforms and all very professional and helpfull. Prices are good for a CBD hotel.
Overall i could not recommend this hotel more, one of the best.
My only complaint is no balconies ,so if you want to smoke you got to go and hang out in the alley downstairs. Did me a favor not smoking anyway.

It's quite surreal entering the QT for the first time, the lighting is very muted and the furnishings are deorations are quirky and most unlike the usual hotel decor. It successfully creates the impression of glamour and you feel that you're in for a treat. The staff were all smiling and helpful and the room was very comfortable and quiet.
Dinner at Gowings was supurb and it is definielty the best breakfast option I've had at a large hotel. I don't go to Sydney much but for me the location was great - very close to shopping and an easy walk to either Hyde Park or Cockle Bay Wharf.
My only negative would be the lighting in the bathroom, which is either almost non exisitent or so bright it reflects off the mirros and hence it is really difficult for applying makeup.

We stayed here recently for 3 nights on the "Gowings Special" which included either dinner one night or breakfast for two mornings. We had dinner plans each night so chose the breakfast option and weren't disappointed. No buffet breakfast here, you just order what you like from the breakfast menu. Lovely food and great coffee. The hotel is all we hoped it to be and more. It is very quirky and eccentric and the staff are all young and beautiful but so friendly and helpful. The bar on Friday night was great, very busy. We are a lot older than the average age of most of the people there but we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. The deluxe king room was beautiful. Gorgeous Japanese bath and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. My husband had a haircut and beard trim by the lovely French barber and he has never looked so good! Last but not least the lift plays different music depending on how many people are in the lift - "all by myself" or "are you lonesome tonight" when alone; "just the two of us" or "you've got a friend" when two of us in the lift. Adorable. Sorry Sheraton on the Park, QT is our new favourite.

As we were passing and the concierge seemed eager to please we decided to pop in and have a look around. Had heard a lot of hype about the exciting and new QT and wanted to see first hand.

James was a very attentive concierge and had a fantastic amount of knowledge regarding the buildings history. Not at all what we expected!

The attention to detail is amazing, doesn't look like they have skipped on any area.

When we are next in need of a city hotel this will be out place to stay.

Hopefully the smiling James will b there to greet us then too :)

Escaped here for a night from Melbourne and loved every second. Started at bar, moved on to have a lovely steak at the restaurant and was so impressed came back for breakfast. Was so much more interesting than the usual four seasons/Westinghouse type hotel. Will be back.

We booked several rooms for two nights for our wedding, which was held at a different hotel. We chose not to stay at that hotel due to the poor service they had shown us in dealing with them for wedding prep - what a breath of fresh air the QT was. We had several phone conversations with them, and they were incredibly helpful in the stressful lead up to the wedding.

Check in for all the rooms was painless, and the staff are incredibly friendly and down to earth. We booked a deluxe twin, a deluxe king and a corner suite - all rooms were brilliant. They were clean, incredibly spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms were particularly gorgeous, with either a Japanese style bath, or a round bath - either or were fantastic. The standard rooms were also fantastic, as we had other family stay in one. Note to potential brides - the suites are plenty big enough for hair and makeup for several people at once. At one point we had 6 or 7 people in the room and it still felt spacious.

The decoration of the hotel is amazing - there is something to admire in every corner of the hotel. The coffee bar/lane way cafe downstairs is awesome, as is Gowings Bar & Grill - breakfast was beautiful!

One final note about service. Unlike The Hilton, who began moving furniture around us at the completion of our wedding ceremony, despite having paying guests, the QT were more than accommodating. We had a lot of out of town guests meet us at a lounge in the QT for drinks - unbeknownst to us prior to the day, this lounge area was supposed to close at 10pm. Without even being asked, the hotel kept this area open for us and our guests for several hours, even still providing drink service when asked.

My husband and his best man had a shave in the barbershop downstairs - they found it to be an awesome experience, and found the barber to be super professional.

We particularly loved the staff. They were truly outstanding, and helped us at every opportunity, making a potentially stressful day very easy. We will definitely be returning in the future!

3 night stay in the city on a mum break. QT had opened pretty recently. On the website it looked a little too nightclubby for a mother of 3 but when I got there I was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were all very friendly and helpful (and young). The lobby is less visually noisy than it appears on the web. The lifts up to the hotel rooms are hilarious, playing different tunes depending on how many people are in the lift (or so it thinks). I had a room in the old Gowlings department store side. Great conversion - old tiled stairs have been retained, it looks like the old fire doors are still on the ends of the floors and I had a great view over the road to the competing hotel. The room itself probably had about 3 more things (be it cushions, stools etc) than I personally would prefer but it hang together really well, there would have been ample room for a couple to stay and the bathroom with bath was fantastic. The location was great - walked out to Paddington, galleries and the Rocks. Straight across the road to the new Westfield. Breakfast was good, the barber and spa looked fantastic (did not visit). I definitely preferred it for a solo visit to something like The Westin - it was fun.
