“Fantastic!”

Fantastic stay! booked through wotif.com and even recieved a complimentry upgrade to a 2 Bedroom Apartment. Nothing was too much hassle to the staff. I asked for some extra wine glasses, directions to the station and recomendations on where to have a meal. They were all so helpful.... Would put it at the top of my list to stay next time in sydney. Also a big thank you to James the receptionist who made the dinner reservation for us, arranged transport and helped us wherever he could. Go MEDINA!!!!

I stayed here while attending a conference at the University of Sydney.( Professional woman travelling solo) At no time did I feel unsafe and while it is close to Redfern, Sydney friends reassured me that it is in the "safe" side of this area. I loved the cafe next door , the narrow streets, the local people and the Thai restaurant down the street. The staff were delightful, and the accommodation extremely comfortable. My family occasionally use other Medina apartments in Melbourne and Sydney. My recommendations for this property would include an upgrade of the gym and in house movies . However, I would stay here again as it is easily accessible by train or taxi. Take a map if travelling by train as most people that I asked directions from, didn't know where to go!

Despite ringing to confirm bookings twice, we were told on two seperate occassions that there was one bathroom plus one ensuite in our 2 bedroom apartment. On arrival, we found that there was only one bathroom between four people. This room is also suppose to accommodate up to 5 guests.

Requests for 4 single beds that was also confirmed turned out to be two doubles beds. As it was peak Easter season, we were advised that there were no other rooms and was not able to find alternate accommodation.

Windows in both bedrooms had winding handles, and although a key and button was available, the windows did not lock. There are rusted metal bars, but looked easily detachable given a shake or two.

The pool is a 25m toe dipper and the gym had a treadmill as the sole piece of equipment. There is however a lovely cafe that is part of the hotel.

If you are travelling alone, keep in mind that this hotel is located inside a maze of little streets, and although we did not see any incidents, I would be weary to walk through the streets at night. Having your own transportation is highly recommended.

Good luck getting out of the car park if you have a manual car as there is a very steep driveway. Our swipe cards were also very tempermental when trying to enter and exit the carpark. We also walked into a spider web dodging parked cars to access walkways.

If you have a fair amount of luggage, you may want to enquire about a room that can easily access lifts, as there are "back door" tunnels to each section of the hotel. Dragging over 80kg of items between us through 2 sets of narrow winding stairs was not particularly amusing.

Overall, staff were poliet but were unable to assist us. Requests such as extra doona's and towels were slow. It was cheaper than city based apartments that offered the same features, however I would rather pay the extra $50 a night instead in future.

i usually stay at Medina's across Sydney but after staying at Medina Classic Chippendale in Sydney i decided to make that my number 1 destination in Sydney. The property was quite new abd there isnt a word that can describe how wonderfull their staff was, especially one of the young men at reception who welcomed me and my family very kindly and made our stay very comfortable there. The only thing that is not good about the property is the location which is around the corner from Redfern, but all else very good.
