Stayed here overnight on Friday 8th march and was very disappointed. There were what looked like pubic hairs on the vanity and long hairs on the bed spread. The curtains were stained and my towel had an orange stain that looked like ear wax. I thought hygiene was the biggest issue in this hotel and that should be a priority when you're running accommodation services. Shouldn't be that difficult task to clean properly. Also heavily overpriced for a basic room.

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights leading up to MardiGras (just coincidence as was in town for a wedding) Stayed in a balcony room that stank of smoke!! We should have realised that people would smoke on the balcony I guess, but then i thought all hotels were smoke free??
Boy, did they know how to charge for MardiGras night !!! An increase of about $50..
And then there is the wifi access, honestly Sebel how can you justify $30 per night for wifi access for just one appliance, Don't you realise this is 2013 and most people have a phone each plus and Ipad or similar device.? Get with it and offer this facility for free..after all you do it for the convention/meetings that you host..

The entire hotel is run down & needs work. The rooms are tired, lacking anything special. The walls were grotty, curtains in disrepair, fittings half falling apart. Empty shelves in the bathroom, lacking style. Had to search for tissues, minimal complimentary items. The food is rediculoysly overpriced, no value for money. I specifically booked a room with a balcony but was given a different room to what I had paid for, with no option to change to the actual room I paid for, no compensation or empathy was shown at all. Overall the whole stay was a major disappointment & ill neva stay or recommend the sebel surry hills to anyone. Such a shame because the sebel in Brisbane is lovely but this sebel is a definite dent in the label.

My parents and myself booked a room for three nights, they put us into room 232 with 2 Single beds and a fold out double bed couch! How can adults sleep on a couch for 3 nights! Especially 60 years old parents. Spoken to the receptionist and also the Duty manager, both of them are rude, not willing to help! Please do not waste your money on this sort of "hotel"!

I stayed here for one night on business. There seemed to be a few other business people checking in around 5pm. Check in was easy and smooth and I was given a large corner room on a high floor.
Location is excellent for the CBD, Darlinghurst and Central. I could easily catch a busy into the city and there were plenty of taxis. The staff hailed a cab for me in the morning from Elizabeth st.
Breakfast was adequate, it was a buffet and covered the basics - cereal, hot breakfast etc. Some of the hot food did seem to have sat for a while.
The hotel has a pool and a gym, although I didn't get to use these facilities.

The Sebel is a decent enough hotel with a pleasant staff and nice rooms. It's similar to a typical Hilton but with a friendlier, more personal and less generic feel. I had just stayed the night before at another Sebel (Albert Park in Melbourne) and it was similar in that the hotels seem to be on standard with most major hotels in terms of the rooms, services and common areas, but the feel is more of a warmer, friendlier atmosphere. BTW, the Sebel chain is a "major" type of hotel, it is just not very familiar to those of us from the states.

The restaurant was pleasant although I was not thrilled with the seating. The outer edge of the restaurant has a pony wall (about 1 meter tall) that is the barrier between the restaurant and a walkway from the lobby to other parts of the hotel. When you sit at a table there, people walking by are watching you eat. It's just not that comfortable. On the other hand, the service was great and the food (I had a pork cutlet which was very thick and perfectly done) was excellent as well. I'd eat there again, I'd just choose different seating.

All in all a very pleasant stay and very good service.

Went for 1 night in Sydney. Room was clean, but a little worn. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful, though they neglected to let us know that the restaurant was closed for two weeks and it was during peek time in January. Breakfast was a gastronomic feast, but the coffee was horrendous..please change the brand..due to location and the plus+ about staying would definitely stay again..
