“Japanese with a modern twist”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

It was greet to see a restaurant that got everything right. We started at their bar for a few pre dinner drinks. They had couches & seats at the bar. The decor is a modern feel with a Japanese influence. Very comfortable & nice to sit there for a few drinks. The restaurant itself was set out quite well. Whether you were a large or small party. There was a large bar table where singles or couples good seat. The food was some of the best I have had. It is I styled on a share theme so plate sizes may seem a bit small but it gives you a chance to try many different things. A great choice of seafood, meats & vegetarian selections. It's all presented well & the flavours are fantastic. Staff were all well trained & the service was excellent. A great dining experience & well worth it.

“Soak it up at Sokyo!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Meet & greet was professional & friendly. Attentive response was prompt & professional. Food was shared as you would expect in this style of restaurant with the mixed sashimi platter oozing freshness of what the sea has to offer. Presentation was excellent. The wagyu beef Robata was moist full flavored & melt in the mouth. Tempura Bug tails were crisp & moorish. Lamb chops in maple miso were full flavored and succulent as was the John Dory. The 2011 Christian Moreau 1er Vaillon Chablis was superb match for the first half of the dinner as was the sublime 2011 William Downie Yarra Valley Pinot Noir to finish of the remainder of the dinner. A great overall dining experience and highly recommended 15/20

“Upbeat Japanese - Excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

Excellent a la carte Japanese restaurant in the Darling Hotel. An assortment of Sashimi was beautifully presented with generous size pieces. Moreton Bay Bug tempura was light and had a nice texture albeit the portion size seemed to be lacking. Atmosphere was upbeat bistro style and service was friendly, efficient and informative. If you like creative Japanese cuisine I doubt whether you would be disappointed.

“Execellent”

Visit in weekday lunch time period. It's Japan fusion food. Good service. The dishes were really nice, but take a bit long for waiting. Try with it's dressert as well, but no really interesting. Reasonable price at city.
