“Fantastic Japanese food and atmosphere in Pyrmont!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Since it was the first visit, we asked Chef to pick the menu for us. We were seated in front of Chef Chase Kojima at the sushi bar. We started with tai crab and yuzu honey scallop, then moved to main course, dengakuman miso cod fish, robata pork belly skewer and lamp chop. The food presentation was unique and fantastic. Chase served us crispy rice with spicy tuna sushi it was really good and all of us were speechless.
Sokyo really took us by surprise, its now my new favorite spot...

“A Must”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Sokyo restaurant is a must visit once experience. My wife and I visited last night and were amazed at the whole experience. The decor is incredible, service impeccable, and food is mind blowing. Don't bother ordering, our waitress asked what we don't like, recommended the omakase menu and the dishes just kept coming out. Highly recommended.

“Sensational Sokyo”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Absolutely fantastic dinner at Sokyo. Started with nice and fresh Pacific oyster with Kyoto baby pear and ginger vinaigrett. Followed by a small dish of kingfish miso ceviche with very thin and crispy potyato on top, very nice texture. Hokkaidoscallops were fresh and lovely with those little miso flakes and tomato dices decorating. Dengakuman is a quiet facinating dish, caramelised miso cod and Japanese salsa sauce really make the flavour, besides the cucumber salad really fresh your mouth. Next with soft and tender teriyaki beef and two plates of sushi started to full your stomach. Desert was incredibly beautiful. Friendly and personable customer service ensured an added value. Highly recommend Sokyo to all lovers of Japanese food or anyone looking to try it for the first time!

“Possibly the best Japanese food in Sydney”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

We love interesting food done well in general and we love the country of Japan.
We eat Japanese food a lot both in Japan and in other places in the world.
Sokyo was polished and clever. The service was faultless. The waiters were quick and attentive and the food was fresh fresh fresh!
Brilliant all around and certainly struck us as being very modern like the restaurants we have eaten at in the Nobu chain, but for us, better. I loved the sashimi platter - so fresh and clean tasting - just perfect. The Miso cod will make you sigh and the sushi lovely, again with the freshest of flavours and textures as though just caught.
Ask for the dessert platter. There is nothing better than Mochi filled with strawberry icecream - pure fantasy! Tapioca parfait and small dumpling-like fluffy doughnuts filled with mascarpone.
We have been twice in the past two months and we will be back so many times in our future. It is just so lovely to find a new favourite and it's on our doorstep.
