this hotel is great if you like quirky unusual type of places. It is very clean and the room was comfortable. There are some cons: w2e were on the third floor, so if stairs are an issue this may not be for you. There were some strong guys working in the pub on the ground floor that nicely carried our suitcases upstairs, but coming back down was dicey. Being on the third floor it was quiet. We did had the window open, the negative about that is there aren;t screens on the windows and a large bug walked into the room. These aren't really big issues for staying at a place with character.

Had another great stay! Couple of downsides are the stairs to your room... No lift. Can be a bit noisy on a Friday or Saturday night. The rooms are clean and 5 star calibre. We went down one morning or breakfast and was looking for weetbix so we could mush them for my infant daughter... Unfortunately there were none so after enquiring the staff member went down to the shop and bought some. That's going the extra mile!!!

The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel is a lovely old fashioned hotel with a pub downstairs. Reminded us a lot of the smaller Inns in the UK and the type of hotels that you see in old western movies, but updated to modern standards. It was wonderful, very cosy. The hotel includes a continental breakfast and we had dinner in the pub which was packed with locals and tourists. Great fun talking to everyone. The staff are friendly and accommodating and we highly recommend it.

This place was awesome! The staff was very casual yet friendly and helpful as can be for a bustling brewery/bar/restaurant/hotel/hangout. The room was very nice and welcoming, comfortable with all needed amenities. You can get take-out six-packs of beer and bottles of wine to bring to your room, which has a nice-sized refrigerator. The place was great for us as a couple and we would highly recommend the experience of staying at this unique hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room.

You cannot experience life in Sydney without a stop in a pub around 6..
This pub full of atmosphere is in a brickstone nice building in the historic neighbourhood of The Rocks.
Don't miss a delicious beer with some chips in this pub full of atmosphere.. You will see a lot of locals who just finished their working day and chill out in front of a draught beer. A really nice way to discover Sydney local life. Then if you still are starving, go to some of the cook your own restaurant in town.

We booked The lord Nelson several months in advance as we wanted an ensuite room. We were not disappointed it was a lovely room very spacious and a very comfortable bed. We were on the third floor at the front of the hotel and there was no noise to be heard from the bar. The hotels location on the rocks is excellent. Bar meals were excellent if not some what large we shared the fish and chips as it was enormous. The beers were very good with an excellent choice. The hotel bar is very busy at weekends so finding a table can be difficult. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend and return to this hotel.

Room Tip: room 202 is the large corner ensuite room

I visited The Lord Nelson following my Sydney Harbour Bridgeclimb on the 27/3/13.
Great to walk in to a welcoming pub with an excellent choice of beers and a great pork pie with mustard, I could have been back home in the UK !!
The pubs location in The Rocks area puts it in the midst of a fair bit of competition but it is the best I personally found.
