Owner description: A neighborhood with a Greenwich Village vibe, Newtown is a great place to stray from tourist traffic and duck into funky clothing, books, homewares and tea shops housed in Victorian-style buildings. The plentiful cafes and restaurants along King Street have earned the roadway the nickname of 'Eat Street.'

“night hang out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2012

Take the bus from the central station at George Str to Newtown. Stop anywhere in the busy street of King Str and walk along the fusion of variety of shops from second hand to the local designers. We ate at one of the busy Thai restaurant, the price is on average and very delicious. Will return should we visit Sydney next time

“Fusion lifestyle.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

What an eclectic mix of food, fashion and fun is to be had in Newtown. Used clothing, new clothing, new food outlets and alternative bookstores and watering holes. Take a stroll down King Street and see it all .A good place for locals and tourists and always interesting.
We used to eat here at least once a week and never tired of the taste of Newtown.

“Excellent for cool hipsters and also great Thai food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

Newtown is a bit of a hipsters paradise, with some down and outs thrown into the mix, the rest of the people are either students! Shoes tend to be optional, which is very strange for a Brit to see- a smartly dressed person with bare feet. But the Thai food on King Street is very good, try Thaitanic- if only for the terrible pun of a name. Gelato is also good at Gelatomassi.

“Newtown - A little piece of living art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Newtown is one of our shooting locations for our pre-wedding photography.

I love the graffiti wall art, and one of the memorable ones is a giant wall beside a shop house, painted in jet black, screaming the word, "Holy Sheet". We did a jump shot there!

You can see many talented buskers displaying their forte, one of the guys is playing a classical violin, beautiful tunes!

There are too many to describe about the place, will put up the photos soon!
