I wouldnt put this in my top 10 must see Sydney attractions but if you're going to Chinatown, pop in and have a browse. There are plenty of Australian souvenirs for overseas visitors, a fruit & veg section and for some strange reason, plenty of stalls selling costumes. If the weather is inclement this might be a place to visit as its indoors.

I am not sure about the overall quality of the products but if you want to buy some souvenirs and save yourself a bunch of money, this has to be one of the places to visit. It has all kinds of products to purchase and apart from a lot of booths having similar products, there is plenty of stuff to appeal to everyone (you can even negotiate a little if you want to try). You can definitely spend a couple of hours there and there is also a fresh fruit/vegetable area in the back of the market with some of the best products around.

If you want to take home loads of cheap souvenirs for the folks back at home, this is the perfect place. We enjoyed walking round and seeing the different types of stalls and people watching as everyone else wandered round too!

I have been going to Paddy's Markets ever since I was a kid. I love the atmosphere and just wandering around the stalls looking for a bargain. Fruit, vegetables, clothing, footwear, luggage, souvenirs and more, they have it all. I recently visited Paddy's Markets at 10am on a Saturday morning and there were no crowds at all. A good day trip is a visit to Paddy's Markets then catch the Sydney Light Rail (tram) to The Sydney Fish Markets for lunch and then get the tram back to Darling Harbour for a walk around and afternoon coffee or a drink at a pub.

Every second stall was the same. Stall holders were either totally disinterested or very pushy. Might be good if you were looking for cheap souvenirs or last minute gifts. Didnt go to fruit & veg section
