Stairs are narrow and close together so you are on your toes a lot. Stretch calves well and wear shoes with good cushion, especially the ball of foot.
Great climb, well put together, great people working there.

went on the Climb in May, it was amazing. The weather was amazing, it ws at around 11am - perfectly clear and dry, relatively hot too, but not too bad. I went up with my girlfriend, but she only got halfway up the main strut and had to go back cos she was scared of heights (it is very very scary). You have an hour of training beforehand where you get suited up, and learn how to 'climb' in an approved manner! Then you go out on the rails, 200ft up with only a thin grill and a metal bannister for company, it is a bit nerve wracking, but the Climb Guides are all really helpful and reassuring.
When you first emerge onto the Bridge itself you must climb around 100 stairs directly upwards via a steel ladder........now this is a bit unnerving especially as you arrive onto street level, and there are cars, buses and trains hurtling past your head at 100k's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then when you finally get onto the curve of the Bridge the feeling is euphoric. The view is amazing and the incline isnt particularly steep. You stop every now and then, either for a photo opportunity or just for a nosy at the people below. The views of the Opera House and both sides of the Harbour are unequalled in my experience, and well worth the fear of the initial ascent!!!!!

In all it takes around 3 hours, and is fantastic.
It is a bit expensive at over $100 AUD, but who cares when i got it for free so ner ner ner ner ner.

We did the Sydney Bridgeclimb in July 2005 and found it a truly unforgettable experience. If you're on a budget holiday the cost is off-putting but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

The staff are absolutely brilliant and as they get you ready for the climb in your boiler suit, miner's light (for late afternoon and evening climbs), climbing equipment, radio earpiece etc etc you really feel as though you're preparing for something momentous.

Reaching the top is quite an achievement and we didn't hesitate to purchase some extra photos as (surprise, surprise) you're not allowed to take your own camera up there. We were extra-lucky - when we reached the summit, it began to rain, and the whole of Circular Quay was illuminated by a rare "circular rainbow" - absolutely stunning.

The climbs and descents on the ladders can be a little hair-raising but it's all perfectly safe and a tremendous experience.

My husband and I, did the Bridge Climb on the 29th March 2005, it was a great day weather wise and I was really nervous but the Bridgeclimb staff were really good at making you feel at ease. The most scary part was climbing up the ladders at the beginning but once on the arc of the bridge it was no problem at all. The views were amazing, you can see Manly beach and Tarronga Zoo from the Bridge. We had a group photo taken at the top, but as I blinked we also purchased a set of four photos of us at different points on the climb (the climb leader took the photos). It's definitely a must do whilst your in Sydney!!

If you Go to Australia don't leave without going to Sydney and do a Bridge Climb.
I did my climb on Australia Day 26th January 2004 and I was fortunate enough to win my climb in a competition I had entered.
I'm 55 and did my trip to Australia as a single Traveller.I spent 4 weeks in Australia, 4 days in New Zealand and 2 Days in Los Angeles before flying home to England, and I must say climbing the Bridge was one of the Highlights of the complete trip.
The top of the Bridge is 134 metres above sea level and when you are climbing the Bridge it dos not seem that high, there are 3 or 4 upright ladders to climb before you get to the arc but when you start climbing this it is a very sligh incline
The Climb rate varies depending on the day and the time of day you go it ranges from160$au - 250$au and believe me it is well worth it.
When I arrived in Sydney I registered my win and was given the oportunaty to do an evening climb. The Climb takes about 3 and a half hrs.
I arrived at the Start at 18.00 you sign in then you have an introduction and then you meet your team leader and fellow Climbers, you have a breath test, kitted out with equipment for the climb,a climbing suit, communication equipment a lamp for the night climb and a harness and go through safety procedures, you are not allowed to take anything loose so cameras are a no no after you start off and about half way up the bridge the leader then takes a photo and then again at the top a group photo and a single one.
At the top 21:00hrs, 360 degree view of Sydney the view was awsome you could see for miles and as the celebrations for Australia day were still going on you could see firework displays all around .
On the way down to the start but on the other side of the bridge you have your photo taken again, and the Knowledge of the Bridge from the team leader are next to none, when you get back to the start and get changed you have the option to buy the photos, you are given the group photo as part of the climb.
Don't leave Sydney without the climb your you life
