My country doesn't have a long history like Europe but this is one Australian landmark that is worth the visit. You need to book in advance as there are limited numbers and you get there with a special ticket onboard one of the manly ferries in the morning and then picked up after lunch. In the early days of Sydney, this island located in the middle of Sydney Harbour was a defence post, it was and still does fire a cannon to signal the time each day whilst there having lunch and learning the history of this landmark. Lunch was good but a bit of a restricted menu cause they have to feed you take you on a tour and then get you back off the island ... but it is well worth it and would highly recommend it !
