“Unexpected, yet pleasant”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

I arrived at a gorgeous brown brick art 4 story Art Deco building, not knowing what to expect. After all it is just off Kings Cross strip, which depending on how you look at it, is a good or bad thing. For me, not a fan, but happily this hotel is tucked in a quiet dead end street. Very central and positioned amongst some good cafes and eateries.

Room is lovely, spacious (I got an amazing deal on a triple sleeper apartment), although some dated fittings. The aircon (which I didn't use) looks like it's from 1973. The room is at least 10C hotter - ok in early sep - but I can imagine is baking by full summer. All rooms from what I can tell face leafy Springfield ave and have a distinctly New York neighborhood feel, including a few sirens through the night. They're clean with crisp white sheets and sparkling white bathrooms.
One thing to note is that people moving about upstairs cause creakiness and the bed actually wobbles with my heavy-footed neighbor.
I found a great eatery in the hood: Sides & Mains does amazing healthy take away. You select a protein (vegetable or meat) for $10 + salad (small is $7.50) which are full of variety and seasonal not just plain cos lettuce and a few tomatoes - they're actually quite creative and delicious!

Best of all is the gorgeous old-school elevator with safety grid.
Will I stay again? If it was transported to another neighborhood, definitely. Yet base in the spectacular deal and other perks, maybe I just might....

This hotel is easily accessed by taxi or via Kings Cross station from the International airport. It is based in a rather 'happening part of town' if you prefer lively night life and ok with a bit of noise at the weekend. The rate we paid was good value for the large triple room, with comfy beds, even if the decor was a little dated and the staff friendly and helpful. Sydney Harbour is 25 minutes walk through a nice royal garden park with great views of the opera house over the river. There are local supermarkets and reasonable restaurants nearby and the train station provides easy access to other parts of Sydney if you want to enjoy an evening out in a 'nicer' part of the city. All in all agood base to discover Sydney.

Tips; The park closes around 5pm so the walk back from the harbour is longer. It's easier to catch the free bus from harbour to Central Rail station and connect back to Kings Cross. The guy in the tourist info cabin round the corner is very cheerful and happy to help.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor to avoid noise from weekend revellers

I would unfailingly recommend the charmingly quirky Regent's Court hotel to anyone who is looking for something outside the typical hotel experience. Lovely well appointed rooms, big rooms with exceptionally comfy beds, leafy views out the window, Regents Court felt more like staying in someone's very nice house than a hotel. Add a fantastically convenient spot close to the subway and lots of great restaurants and cafes in Darlinghurst, Potts Point and Kings Cross, its hard to beat. I will definitely be staying there again!

Room Tip: Ask for Rooms 21 or 31 overlooking Springfield Avenue and a glimpse of the harbour.

I stayed at Regents Court on the weekend and it was perfect. It's in the heart of the Cross and I could happily have moved into my room and stayed. Reception was really helpful - phone call ahead of stay to explain closed hours, and a reminder ahead of closing when I needed to pick up luggage on departure.

This was a quick trip to Sydney, but I'm looking forward to spending more time at Regents Court in the future. Gorgeous.

Travelled to Syd to do the City2Surf and took my wife and young daughter. Driving towards Potts Point we were impressed with the feel of the area. Pulled up to Regents Court and were very happy with the location. 30 min walk to Opera House through Botanical Gardens. 5 mins to Kings Cross Station. Surrounded by great cafes, bars, restaurants. We were upgraded to the top floor with a few to the city - we enjoyed watching the sunset. Room was big and nicely presented, felt like modern Art Deco style. I loved the old lift with the sort of sliding doors you see in movies. You could smell the old building as you travel up and down. We ate at a fantastic Vietnamese restaurant directly across from the hotel - the food was great and well priced. Down the street you have a gourmet supermarket, which if you're from Melbourne is like a mini Leo's. They call the street Regents Court is on "little Manhattan" and my American wife agreed - it felt like New York. Even after the TV lost reception mysteriously we had local revellers to entertain us!

Dear JustinFly,
Thank you for your recent review on Regents Court. We are pleased you enjoyed staying with us!
We definitely are blessed to be on a very picturesque street, in the lively and trendy suburb of Potts Point. It may interest you to know that our street was used for a TV series shoot only yesterday, intending to look like it was filmed on the streets of New York! It’s ironic that you also mentioned it!
We look forward to welcoming you back to Regents Court in the near future!
Best wishes,

I had a wonderful stay here for business in June 2013. Got a fantastic deal. The room was top class. The Art Deco styling was lovely. Very comfortable space, all amenities perfectly placed and functional. A commanding view of the city, absolutely superb position in Kings Cross (not too close to the bustle so reasonably quiet but close enough to access everything you want/need). A real gem. Would suit a short stay for business (the wifi actually works and is included - crucial) or stay for pleasure (not so much for young families though; the Cross isn't really family orientated, the building is renovated but the layout is old, the car park is close but not on site). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved it and would stay here again every time if on my own or with another adult and I could get a similar deal.

Room Tip: I went for the top of the range room as it had the best deal. Top floor looking towards the city. As...

It was good decision for us to stay here. Initially I booked for Meriton but my wife disagreed because it's too expensive.

Our room was deluxe twin studio apartment and we stayed for 4 nights. The room was a bit dated but we understand that it's undergoing refurbishment. The room was well equipped and we cooked proper meals everyday. The simple setup made we felt homey. During our stay the TV was changed to new flat screen.

We like the most the roof top garden.

Even though Regents Court located at Potts Point, it was not too far to the Royal Botanic Garden. I walked to the Garden twice from Regent Court. And taxi was easily available at Darlinghurst Rd.

The staffs were excellent.
