It was close to the Sydney Harbour ...so you can walk through going or coming from the Harbour.
Some interesting & lovely local plants (which attract local birds) ...some of the water ways in the park were installed by the prisoners (about 100 yrs ago) ...worth the walk - they have a nice shop in the centre of the garden & some restaurants. The restaurants seem to keep "Banker's Hours or are always closed for "special events" ...bummer :(

The expansive land is most easily digested with a quick tour. The history of the horticulture is fascinating. It is a great place to go for a jog, grab lunch, take a nap, and get gorgeous photos. There is a café in the middle, if you get hungry. Its an affordable (FREE) way to spend an afternoon.

This is a great place to walk along the harbor and by the Opera House. There was a private function. I walked by, a police officer sopped me, but she was friendly and told me to wait while she literally RAN OVER and got me a map. They have some eateries too....and varied gardens. There are signs posted about. You can spend hours here. Bring a blanket, have a picnic.

This is a lovely park, lots of well tended beds of flowers and shrubs, a few years back there were fruit bats hanging from the trees but these have gone now but there is still a lot of interesting places to visit within the park, best on a sunny day.

Nice and well maintained though nothing exceptional. Convenient picnic spot near the Opera House though be warned that something about the location makes it considerably cooler than it's surroundings so in winter esp be prepared to freeze! Mrs. Macqueries chair is basically a bench in a birdcage with a view.
