Owner description: Spanning the city center to the North Shore, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is a wide steel arch bridge known for its beauty as well as function, providing a crossing for cars, trains, bikes and pedestrians. While the more daring can do the BridgeClimb to the top of the structure, opened to traffic in 1932, anyone can enjoy a walk for free.

We went on the "twilight" climb, which started in daylight & by the time we had reached the halfway point it was just turning to dusk. The views are sensational, the guide we had was very friendly, explained all the facts about the 'bridge & answered all the groups questions & was very "easy going". After we had started to descend, our guide asked us all to stop, turn around & look at the magnificent sunset over the Blue Mountains. He took most of our photos then, & he explained that he had been doing the 'bridge climb tours for 7 years, but he had never had this opportunity to take such great pictures with the sunset in the background. He was chuffed, & so were all of our group! The climb is not "scary" (I am not "fond" of heights!), but VERY safe & well worth the little bit of physical "exercise" it took to do the climb, certainly not strenuous or dangerous. Costly, but worth it for the experience.

It has to be seen to truely get a sense of how striking this bridge is! If your not so keen on spending the $180+ to scale the bridge then I highly recommened climbing the south east tower for just $11. There is a great bit of history on the making of the bridge and the view from the top is just as good as from the top of the arc. I was surprised to find how interesting the making of a bridge could be too!

The experience took 4 hours from the time you start orientation to finish. It was a good experience but only something you do once in a lifetime. Great view and great history! Personally the tour guide we had made it from my perspective. He was fun, well informed, and very accommodating!!

My sister and I booked the night climb in February. It was a wonderful way to appreciate Sydney's skyline by night. We had already been up the Sydney Tower Eye during the day.
The night climb was perfect for my sister - who was a little hesitant at times with the ladders. The guides were very supportive and encouraging of everyone on the climb and there is no race to finish first/pressure to hurry along.
The night climb works out to be a little cheaper too - coming in at $198AUDpp. We also pre-booked a 2 pack of photos for $30 (they also provide a link for you to upload these directly to Facebook!). You get given a souvenir hat, 30-second video (that you can upload to social media), a group photo and certificate. Remember to wear fully enclosed footwear. My sister had on Sketchers, which covered her toes and heel, yet because they only had a Velcro strap across the top of the foot, she was given Volleys to switch into. They provide beanies, cloths (for sweat/tears etc.) and straps if you have glasses to secure them. You cannot take cameras and/or any loose items.
You wear a headset to listen to commentary provided by the guide. This was perhaps our only negative. Our guide was very difficult to hear in the training and with headsets on. Nonetheless, she was lovely.
Oh and when they ask you to strip down to your jocks/knickers - they are serious! (Don't worry this happens in a change room) The overalls are thick and they also provide wet weather trousers - so I'd imagine you'd certainly overheat. I thought the joke was on me!
It was a wonderful night on the bridge that ended with a great sense of achievement.

Please make it a point to try and squeeze in a trip to the bridge a day climb if you've the stomach for heights. The photos are incredible and the view is pretty phenomenal.
