As soon as I got off the bus to see this place, I was awestruck...beautiful beach with powerful waves and winds... the backdrop of the beach is picturesque too..with the hilly areas on both sides of the beach arc filled with beautiful houses...when we went there on a weekday afternoon, it was scarcely populated...the walking paths give an easy way for people with prams and wheel chairs to enjoy the beach walk...took a bus from circular quay...advice to take the bus from Bondi junction station to save time...there are plenty from there.

When I first visited Bondi Beach it reminded me of a 1950s British seaside resort but with better sunshine. It is such an icon but there are many better beaches in Australia.

Had the feel of a very tired British seaside resort? Not a lot happening anywhere, considering the name of the place I was very surprised by the lack of atmostphere here!

A 30 something Sydney-sider (now living in Newcastle)...
Have family in the UK who have wanted to check out this famous Sydney landmark... on all four occasions Ive taken them... such a let down.... really if you want to see a proper Aussie beach, go south to Cronulla down to Wooloongong/Jervis Bay or even any of the ones up the Nth Coast... Bondi just doesn't cut it...
I agree with neg comments made about the "celebrity lifeguards"...
guys... remember... you are JUST lifeguards and work FOR the community... there are a few of you who think that you're all it!! Get over yourselves... it's a pity overseas chicks seem to cause the guards from being professional.... Waverly Council, please take note and sort these guys out....
funnily enough, the water there seems always chilly regardless of surfing or diving...(I do scuba dive also off bondi and always find it cold).... a Nurse shark habitat nearby at Coogee beach which is great for divers is a better draw card...
back to bondi, it's over-rated... beach is terrible, littered, parking is hexy, and way too many people on the hot days trying in vain to get a tan.... choose elsewhere...

Great hang for locals and tourists. Whether the weather is on your side or not it is well worth a visit. I prefer the cooler months, less crowds and still a great vibe.
