Victoria Court Hotel Sydney

Reviewed April 6, 2014

We stayed here at the end of March to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - it was overpriced compared to the other hotels we had stayed in and although we originally booked 4 nights we left after one night as we were not happy with our room as it was dirty and we had very little sleep due to noise.
Breakfast was ok however there were not enough tables and chairs for all the guests so we had to wait in the lounge until someone had finished.

Great little B&B Hotel, lovely old Victorian building in quiet, shady street, a few minutes walk from Kings Cross Station. We had a 2 night stay here prior to our journey on the Indian Pacific train from Sydney to Perth, In February 2014, The Victoria Court is spotlessly clean, well maintained and has a homely atmosphere. A buffet continental breakfast is included and served in the delightful conservatory. The duty manager, Chris, couldn't have been more helpful and any requirements/queries were promptly dealt with. I stayed in an 'budget' single room and although on the small side, it contained everything needed for a short stay including kettle and supplies of tea, coffee, milk etc. This was my second visit and I would highly recommend a stay here and booking well in advance is advisable, particularly in peak periods.

A friendly helpful manager , neat old victorian and great location made this a good choice in sydney .Just 2 blocks from Kings Cross train station made it easy to get to from the airport .It is out of the gritty seedy part of the cross ( but an easy walk if you like that sort of thing )In fact we walked through woolamaloo , the botanic gardens to circular quay and the opera house in 35 minutes .A lot of restaurants and pubs to choose from locally .The rooms have high ceilings and quirky bathrooms , air con and fans and are clean .The breakfast is included and good , toast, croissants, cereal ,fruit ,tea ,and good coffee .What else do you need?

This is a really pleasant B and B in a very convenient part of Sydney. It is only 30 mins walk thro the botanical gardens to the opera house. It is iin the backpacker district of Sydney but on a quiet street that is very pleasant. The accommodation is clean comfortable and our room was very quiet but slightly small. breakfast in the inner courtyard is continental but adequate. Staff very helpful. No hesitation in recommending it if you want a slightly querky none corporate stay in sydney

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not fronting the street

Victoria Court is a traditional B&B that reminds you a bit of UK accommodation in the 70s/80s. Although it has a very traditional style, it is clean and well maintained.

We got upgraded to a bigger room but can't imagine the size of the standard rooms (our upgrade was a little pokey). The staff are friendly, the location is good and it's a pretty decent price.

Worth a visit if its available

This hotel was an rare find in expensive Sydney. It is inexpensive, clean, very comfortably set, with nice breakfast in a charming inner court. Our room looked towards breakfast courtyard and was very quiet. The bed was comfortable and large, and the bathroom was immaculately clean. We moved to this hotel after a one-night stay at the Central Hilton, where we found two huge cockroaches in the bathroom! We had this experience in Victoria Court, during our 8 days of stay there. The staff is very kind and helpful. The audience was mostly European, middle-aged couples. It is a short walk to the subway station, which connects you will every point in the city, and we felt safe at any time walking back to the hotel in the evening/night along Victoria Street. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends to travel to Sydney.

Room Tip: The rooms looking at the courtyard are quieter.

Fantastic cheap stay for 1 night. Other reviews are correct with saying its more of a B&B style but that was fine for me. What got my reservation was available parking at only $22 for the night. Nowhere else can compete with this in such a great location. Room was very simple but clean and comfortable. Friendly service from manager/owner?? Without any bull****! Free breakfast. Our room was at the top of a large set of stairs and assistance with luggage was offered but not required. Great little spot would stay again
