I live near the Spit Bridge, Sydney and truly love this scenic walk - (a bush trail which follows the coastline between Manly and the Spit Bridge near Mosman) .Our overseas visitors love this walk, especially in summer. Pack your swimmers, start at the Spit Bridge enjoy the walk to Manly which exerts energy but is not super challenging - and finish off with a refreshing swim and well earned lunch at Manly Beach where there are a great choice of restaurants either near Manly Wharf or along the Steyne ( by the beach)You can catch the Manly Ferry back to the city ( Circular Quay )where you will see the Opera House from the water. A great way to see Sydney without too much financial expenditure!

I walked the Spit to Manly recently for the second time . It's undoubtedly a great walk and the views are very rewarding.

You have two options... park at Manly and take a bus down to the Spit. which is what we did the last time we did this walk..or alternately, park at the Spit-there is parking available, but its expensive, but then nowadays so is parking at Manly.. and take a bus back..which is what we did this last time.

much of a muchness

great views, superb walk..but the thing that stands out for me after both times-for some reason, this walk is a lot more tiring and exhausting than the length or time it takes would suggest.

Dont have a rational explanation why..maybe both times we did it , it was just an extra hot day?

anyway the first time we did the walk my kids were both under ten, and my parents were well over 75; and we walked it quite easily despite , as I have already said , being exhausted at the end

this last time my daughter and her boyfriend came along, and despite being just 21, both of them found it tiring. But they don't regularly bushwalk, whereas my wife and I do..and we found it hard too- but we are thirty year or more older

so in summary.. a great walk, very rewarding but far more tiring for some strange reason than the length or duration would indicate. As long as you are prepared for that ...

Aso we were looking forward to the icecream van at Arabanoo lookout -roughly at the half way point..but on the day we did the walk he had gone walkabout apparently so we missed out on icecreams and really cold drinks till we hit Manly Pier

Anyone can do this walk, just be prepared to be a bit more tired than you would anticipate, unlike most walks its one that's just actually just a little harder than advertised. But under tens and over seventy fives can do it so really anyone can. Do take plenty of water and some food or snacks. Maybe have a bit of a rest along the way and enjoy the view-we did do a side trip to the lighthouse. And we took dozens of photos!

But if you like walking, and have the time..don't leave Sydney without walking this route....
