I found the Grace Hotel to be one of the nicest places to stay in Sydney. The room and staff were outstanding. The location was great, right in the middle of town within walking distance to everywhere. I would highly recommend this fine hotel to other tourists.

Have stayed here many times. And will always be on the top of the choice.
Room is spacious. Location is ideal. Close to the night clubs and circular quay. Just simply enjoyable. Will definitely be back again.

I spotted this hotel in a last minute deal site, and then went to the actual site to book, because I had stayed here before and knew it was in a great location for a Sydney night out. Easy to walk anywhere in the city, and to the Harbour, which is where we were heading.
I had booked for 3 of us, and requested a rollaway, but on check in I was upgraded to a suite - perfect! Great service, and easy check in.
The bed was a delight, so comfy. One of the best sleeps I have had in a hotel!

We stayed at the Grace Hotel for five nights from 22 February 2014.

This hotel is a good choice for most tourists, although it aims its trade mostly at the corporate clients.

Getting to the hotel from the airport is easy and the train has a direct route to Wynyard station, which is a three minute walk from the hotel. Take the York Street exit.

Nice 4 star hotel with grand foyer and exterior in a prime location for all the major tourist sites - all within walking distance.

The rooms have easy access to lots of lifts, comfortable beds in rooms as well as very good air con and hot showers which work extremely well. In fact, the spacious rooms are well furnished and include a desk, armchair and a flat screen TV.

The internet availability is limited, so you might need to use your phone data for tethering to the internet, keeping an eye on your download tariff or alternatively you could use one of the nearby cafes or burger bars.

On departure, the airport train terminal requires a separate gate pass ticket from your normal travel to enter and exit as this is operated by a private company.

My top tourist tips
• Get a weekly ALL ZONES (61 dollars) pass for trains, buses and ferries as soon as possible - you will need it to see the best of Sydney and it will work out a bargain once you get going.
• Once you have your ticket, places worth a visit are Bondi junction and beach (by train), Manly beach (by boat), a train across the Harbour Bridge stopping at Milson station and then coming back on a ferry to Circular Quay – this is the best way to see the bridge and Opera house - it is a bit of gem.
• The Blue Mountains - best to avoid weekends; it is a 2hr train journey, but worth the effort for the ‘Grand Canyon’ experience – don’t miss the memorial to pioneers at Echo Point – 10 minute walk from Katoomba station.
• The Botanic gardens and the adjacent New South Wales art gallery.
• Darling Harbour is a 10 minute walk from the hotel and has some nice places to eat like ‘Hurricane grill’ or try ‘the Watershed’ for a local beer and lovely views, or walk in the opposite direction for ten minutes to Circular quay for the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, stopping for a beer at the Bavarian Lowenbrau bar at the Rocks on Playfair street.

I love this hotel. This is my 2nd visit for work. This time for 4 nights. The building is beautiful and has a great feel. The rooms are generous in size with good facilities. The let down point for me was the bed. The mattress was very hard and I found my hips ached after the first night. The 2nd night I resorted to making a softer foundation by laying one of the blankets from my wardrobe on top of the mattress. This worked ok but when I called housekeeping to ask for another blanket they said they could do better and brought me a spare doona to layer under the mattress protector. This worked very well. Housekeeping also suggested that if I still had a problem they were happy to address it any time of the day. This is great service!

Best thing about The Grace Hotel is its close proximity to the CBD. Everything was within walking distance and there was a nice Italian restaurant (Vapiano) at it's lobby as well. Hotel staff were courteous and helpful, rooms were clean (although a little dated) and were quite spacious. We were also allowed to check in early which was a huge bonus as we arrived on a red eye flight.

The 2 downsides that we had during our 2 night stay was that house keeping did not clean up our rooms until after 1pm. We were hoping to come back to a clean room but were a little disappointed. Secondly, the walls were a little thin in the room that we were in and it can get noisy from other rooms.

Overall, it was a great location and the rooms were comfortable enough for us to overlook the minor flaws.

Friends and I stayed at the Grace Hotel after a 14 day cruise. The hotel is classically lovely. Rooms are large with huge windows. There is a laundry room, breakfast room and an attached restaurant with an outdoor patio. The location is perfect--one block from the Queen Victoria building, three blocks from Darling Harbor, one block from the free shuttle bus, and 15 minutes walk from Circular Quay (where the Rocks, Harbor Bridge and Opera House are located). Helpful staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the central garden. Instead of paying a lot for breakfast in the hotel...
