One must tour the Opera House with a guide when in the city. It is so beautiful and has an intersting history. WE were unable to get tickets to a performance while there. So, if you are going and want to attend a performance, try to schedule them before going.

Couldn't wait to visit the Sydney Opera House. We decided to take a private tour; so, I'm not sure if you get the same results from walking the tour alone. The structure itself is amazing, but just as fascinating is the history that we learned about its creation. It really helped to have the guide sharing the story and pointing out things we probably would have missed. Once inside you can't help but be captivated by the magnificent acoustics. We were hoping to catch a show, but the selection at the time was not too appealing. It's a must see!

We did the basic Sydney Opera House tour. Well informed, friendly guide spent an hour showing various aspects of the Opera House. Good use of headsets and video content to make the tour more engaging. Disappointed that we only got to spend a couple of minutes in main concert hall, did not get to see the Dame Joan Sutherland theatre and spent the majority of our time in two small, and rather bland theatres that are used mainly for kids shows. Perhaps visitors should aim to do the "behind the scenes" tours. The Opera House itself is very impressive and provides multiple photo opportunities, as long as they are in areas sanctioned by the tour operators as photo spots (they are very strict about where you can take photos).

We took the red eye from Perth to economise, but that didn't stop me from booking the whole family into Madama Butterfly fir the next day. It was a mesmerising production by the Australian Opera and even manahed to keep 12 and 9 year old boys mostly awake after the red eye. Magnificent buidling inside and out.

Even with Sydney as my home town, I never tire of visiting Circular Quay and seeing the Opera House. It makes me very proud to live here. As a visitor to this wonderful city, a tour of the Opera House is must! Only a few months ago, I did the tour again with my daughter and was blown away yet again by the building and the location.

The tour we chose, was called, “Tour and Tasting Plate”. Our guide was extremely knowledge and passionate about the Opera House and the theatre, which always make for an enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this tour, as it is great value and a great experience, with fabulous photo opportunities. Enjoy.
