I took two visits to the Rocks during my last Sydney visit, first to have lunch with friends and later to revisit some recommended sights. The first visit was on a Saturday when the craft markets were in full swing, and it was delightful to wander amongst the stalls before we stopped for lunch. The second visit was an afternoon in which I had more time to wander around. I visited Susannah Place, the Big Dig, the Discovery Museum, a couple of pubs with el fresco dining, and the visitor center. Walked along the Gloucester Walk to marvel at the Argyle Tunnel that was dug by convict labour. Don't listen to anybody who tells you that The Rocks is only interesting for shoppers, as it has so much more to offer than that!

We walked around the Rocks but we aren't into shopping that much. If you were it would be a little paradise....

Interesting part of town where a lot of convicts lived in the early days. Some interesting buildings and pubs left that are worth a visit.

Neat little area of Sydney. There are a lot of hills, so be prepared. This is where Lord Nelson's brewery is. We walked from the brewery to the bridge and it was super easy.

Probably the highest concentration of tourists in Australia. Yes its the gateway to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House - but the restaurants are all overpriced and its always busy. Recommend that you just pass through it en-route to somewhere else, and eat further afield - like in Surry Hills or Darlinghurst.
