“Kids loved it and so did we”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Kids were desperate to visit the aquarium - got a deal with two other attractions that was reasonable. Easy to get to on the explorer bus. Lots to see and do - agree that some of the touch screens could be improved upon and could do with a bigger touch pool perhaps with more things in it. Overall though, a great place to visit with kids and lots nearby as well (e.g. Wildlife Zoo). We were lucky as we visited at the end of the day outside school holidays. Could well imagine the scrums on a busier day!

“School holiday fun”
Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

The aquarium has done a lot to update its educational information and interactivity, which is great.
There is plenty to see and you could spend hours here.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
The dugongs look like they are in a space too small for them which was concerning when mentioned by one of the kids.
Gifts in the shop are a bit expensive so with four kids with us we did t make any purchases.
Everyone had a good time.

“More info please”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

This aquarium has the chance to be a really good attraction, with lots of interesting critters and good displays. The only thing that lets it down is the way they identify the fish etc in each tank. They have touch screen displays next to the tanks, which list pages of fish and provide lots of great info on them. Unfortunately, this long list is for all the fish you could see in the multitude of tanks around you, so its hard to identify that particular fish you just saw swim under the coral.
Apart from that, we thought it was an excellent attraction with lots of really impressive and huge tanks. The dugong were amazing but just as much fun was the tiny yellow fish in the same tanks, doing laps like clockwork! So take your time and look for the big creatures but also the really tiny ones.

“Photo shoot at Start Uneccesary holdup”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

Its great to have this attraction in Sydney and especially the dugongs who were rescue dugongs.
I do object though particularly on the first day of school holidays it was extremely busy and we had to wait longer in a queue than those paying on the day despite buying online tickets. Then we had to wait even longer in a queue for a corny photo shoot with an annoying American employee ( why are there so many foreigners working here ? Indians also when many Australians would love a job here) lining people up in front of a green screen. We weren't the only ones who didn't want a photo but there is no option to walk past as you are trapped in a thin hallway. This is unacceptable to be forced to wait for this and just added to the congestion once inside. I did voice my disapproval and I hope others will also. Yes it is all looking a bit tired and does need a makeover. Also in the beautiful area where there is classical music and you can watch the fish in a large tank it should be a quiet zone...too many people making loud noise which took away from the ambience....
PS the singapore aquarium was better and people could actually put their hands inside special tanks to touch fish and also feed the stingrays by hand...no one had any digits bitten off...we need to jazz it up a bit. The penguins are pretty cute though...

“Dugong and Shark walkways worth the admission.”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Not much has changed in the years since I last visited, except the great addition of two dugongs. It's expensive and needs some new attractions but the kids enjoyed it and happily spent a couple of hours looking at the exhibits. I'd like to see a section devoted to more interesting marine animals such as the blue ring, sea snakes, morays, cones, and dangerous jellyfish.
