“Very moving !”

The displays & the guided tour were great. I learnt so much that I always wondered about. Will most certainly visit there again next time I am in Sydney.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Maybe we had the wrong expectations after reading the Trip Advisor reviews as well as reviews on the website. When we travel, we either hire Jewish experts or guides or visit Jewish museums. What intrigued us here was that the tour would be led by a survivor. This primary testimony will not be available for too much longer. Our other intention was to learn more about what brought the Jews to Australia.
Firstly, we did not have a survivor as a guide and secondly, we learned very little about Jewish immigration to Australia except for some scant exhibits. Our guide, Ari, began by asking us what were our interests. Well he totally disregarded us and after close to an hour, we just had to leave this group guided tour. Perhaps there should be two groups, one explaining the Jewish history and another devoted to the history of immigration. Ari just could not handle the balance.
We were glad that we went to show our support for the museum but we left very unimpressed and certainly did not have much further information than what we already knew.

“Haunting but informative”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

this museum has a very sad history it retells to those who wish to know more about the Holocaust and Jewish history. It's a lovely place to visit in that the staff are friendly and informative and it's a beautiful building. The content is quite upsetting but a part of history that I think everyone should know about.

“Amazing Museum - Great Exhibits”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Well designed, this museum packs in many engaging exhibits into a small space. The museum has guides on hand to enrich the experience as well as multimedia exhibits. There is a cafe and museum shop with an impressive collection of books.

“Very moving”

Visited others and found them all so moving. Mans' inhumanity to Man. Found hardest to listen to were the videos by the survivors themselves. Their stories made me cry.
