“diverse collection nicely housed”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

While not large by new museum standards, this gem had a very diverse collection. One floor is devoted to dinosaurs and another to the extinct animals of Australia with very good signage.
The Aboriginal Gallery is especially interesting with several videos depicting the struggles of these people to gain respect in their homeland.

My favorite area was the displays of art work in many different media by aboriginal artists. The colorful paintings and interesting sculptures mostly depict nature as their main focus is their believe in the connection of all living things.

There is also a cafe and small gift shop. My time was well spent in this museum and was a nice quiet break from all the excitement of Sydney.

“Good museum but small”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

I love museums. They teach me so much about our world. This was no exception. We opted not to pay extra for the dinosaurs because they are in Chicago and I came to see Australia. I spent a lot of time on the top floor with the animals of Australia. That was really nice. I volunteer in a zoo and it was good to see and learn about all the different sizes of kangaroo. They have a nice section on beach and shallow water species of animals. Good to learn about for snorkeling and scuba diving. I took loads of pictures to bring home and remind me of what I saw. On the lower floor was a room full of information about the Aboriginal people. Very interesting. Without seeing the dinosaurs we spent 2-3 hours.

“Memorable”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

My favorite part was the new T Rex collection. First time for me. It was amazing. the rest of their collection is pretty good too, specially their mineral collection. I only wish their visiting hours could be extended a little bit, had to go out before i could finish the whole place. But memorable non the less :)

“Time and money well spent.”
Reviewed June 9, 2014 via mobile

Spent at least 2 hours there today and enjoyed it. Would love to see more real skeletons instead of plastic but still good. Pram access everywhere! Plenty toilets but no actual babys rooms. Cheap entry also !
