Most wonderful collection of art worth seeing even on a warm autumn day especially after coffee and picnic in the gardens.

The Archibald had 4 very good works (not including the winner), the Sullman was much more interesting but the work judged the winner certainly wasn't among the best 5 and the Sullman is best avoided altogether. I don't know whether it is a lack of taste, ignorance or poor eyesight but we need some new judges for next year!

The gallery itself is always worth a visit. The Archibald Prize Exhibition is a highlight! Portraits are very interesting and some great new approaches are evident!

I now live out of state but try to coincide visits back to Sydney to visit family with the annual Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes exhibitions.
The staff at the AGNSW are unfailingly polite and helpful. The indigenous exhibitions are always worthwhile, and I would go there just to look at Brett Whiteley's masterpiece, The Balcony 2, which remains my favourite Sydney painting.

Went to an annual art event called the Archibald Prize - its for portraits. It was amazing. So, so diverse and good work. Then I went to the Bald Archies, which is a send up of the establishments Archibald Prize. These guys have a great sense of humor. Really enjoyed both. As no one takes anything too seriously here. Not stress. "No worries mate" They'll make an aussie of me yet.
