We booked an executive suite for a reasonable $500 a night. As I had booked a few weeks in advance i requested for one of the top floors, and upon check-in was told we will be staying on the the 31st level. Room was impeccable, bathroom well appointed and the food (room service) was absolutely fabulous. The ambience was carefree and not stuffy or snooty which some 5 star hotels can tend to be. Buffet breakfast was inclusive and worked out to be much better value for money. Staff we also very helpful. I have stayed at the Park Hyatt in Sydney but this hotel far surpasses the Park Hyatt in service. Westin is well worth its 5 star rating and having stayed at dozens of 5 star hotels, i highly recommend the Westin if staying in Sydney.

Very well appointed rooms and attentive service. Not much of a view from the rooms though. Plenty of locations for drinks and meals.

We stayed at the Westin Sydney for 12 days in July. We had a conference to attend for a couple of days. Our trip was a mix of business and pleasure. Traveled with husband and daughter (pre-teen). Stayed in a Heritage Room. Lovely, lovely, lovely. And huge. Great amenities. Large bathroom. Nice teas for breakfast. I loved that the hotel is in the GPO (old post office building). Fabulous restaurants to choose from and clearly a place to be seen. And the workout facilities were incredible. We loved the Rocks. But this hotel is convenient to everything on foot. The weather was mild--60s and sunny, most days. Better than the heat in our hometown of Nashville. Great staff. Early check-in because of early flight. I booked a Deluxe King Heritage room. Plenty of room to spare (and I mean plenty!!) for an extra bed for my daughter.

My wife and I stayed 5 nights at the Westin room 1502, the check in was fast. The room had a beautiful view, large, clean, and quiet. Bathroom large, clean, shower and bath-tab, with many and quality courtesy products (soap, shower gel, balm, comb...). Breakfast is great. Large selection of foods and beverages. Fresh, testy and in a very unusual place: the inner terrace of the Hotel, with a view on the clock tower place. There are several restaurants downstairs, from cozy to easy-going. Different prices. The Westin reception staff are kind, professional and helpful, especially for good restaurants addresses. We purchased via the Hotel website, cheaper and large possibilities. Ten to fifteen minutes walk from the Rocks. Close to shops and restaurants. The swimming pool is in a fitness center a bit small compared to the pictures. Internet point for free.

The Westin in Sydney is a very nice hotel. The location is not where there is a view of the Harbour, but it is a great location for visiting all of the main attractions in the CBD. It seemed like no more than a 10-15 minute walk to everyplace.

The decor is very modern. The bathrooms were pretty wild, but you have to love a shower that is big enough for a group and includes a handheld shower head as well as an over head rain shower.

Overall the rooms were very nice. The beds are advertised as the "heavenly bed" and they are. The flat screen TV's are nice but pretty limited on channels. Luckily, we were not too interested in watching TV.

The complaints are the ticky tacky things that are probably no big deal to some, but just annoying to us. No ice without calling "Service Express" (aka room service) for example. We had no idea how to even figure this out without a call to the front desk. When we called we were told all the information you would normally find in print in the room could be found on the TV. That's fine, but it would have been nice if we had been told that at check-in. It seemed like everything we needed required a call to the front desk or room service....sorry, "Service Express".

One personal irk: I wish the high end hotels would take a tip from the Holiday Inn Express and SpringHill Suites type places and charge like a dollar more per room and give everyone free wifi instead of the crazy $13 to $27 per day fees for the few who actually pay that we saw this trip. You would think that 10-20 people at a time using the free wifi in the lobby would give them a clue. Yeah I know, next thing you know I;ll be expecting them to include charges for checked bags on the airlines....

Overall the Westin in Sydney a beautiful hotel in a great location for seeing all of the CBD of Sydney.
