“Beautiful hotel with lots of character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Must say this hotel exceeded my expectations, didn't really know what to expect but I'd walked past the hotel so many times (I live in Sydney) without ever setting foot inside.

Our room was on the top floor overlooking the harbour, with sensation harbour views, and ferries that go by seemingly just outside the window. It may not overlook the trendy side of Sydney Harbour, but still sensational. You hardly feel you're in the centre of a big city but you are! The comfy lounge next to the window was fantastic to lay in just to watch ferries, water taxis etc go past - sometimes you think the ferry passengers can see right into your room!!!

Whilst the room is modern and everything you'd expect at this price and location, the exposed beams of the heritage Pier One structure just adds to the character without feeling you're in an old structure. Love it!

Room Tip: Any overlooking the water, especially towards the northern end closer to the "action".

We recently stayed one night to enhance a visit to Sydney Theatre and the location of this hotel cannot be bettered. However, from the beginning, we were underwhelmed by the facilities and customer service. The valet parking was efficient, although our car was merely parked in the open by the side of the hotel, not at all secure. But as I dragged my bag up the stairs to the foyer, I did wonder why there wasn't someone there to offer to help (perhaps because it was a smallish bag due to our short stay). However, our room was a major disappointment - literally in the shadow of the Harbour Bridge, it was dark and gloomy. The carpet was stained and the room was totally bland. The grouting in the bathroom was falling out and the toilet was a "vacuum" type like on airplanes, due I guess, to the hotel being built on a wharf. However, I noticed the toilets at the local bar (Bar at the End of the Wharf, {Wharf 4} which was absolutely fabulous had normal plumbing facilities. We had purchased a breakfast package which was okay but the dining room was very small, and crowded. All in all, considering we paid standard rates so it wasn't a bargain deal, it was disappointing and I wouldn't stay there again. Even the Novotel had more charm and that's saying something!!

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the Harbour

The location, the staff, the service at the Sebel Pier One Sydney was fantastic!!! Staff were so friendly and nothing was any trouble.

It was a quiet but very central location with spectacular views. Rooms were super clean, modern but still very welcoming and warm.

Would recommend this Motel to anyone, would be great for families as there is inter-connecting rooms and close to major attractions in Sydney eg The Rocks, Ferries to the Zoo etc.

The hotel is situated in the shadow of Sydney Harbour Bridge and is a great place to rest your head for a few days. All the iconic buildings are within easy walking distance, yet the hotel isn't sucked into the 'hurly burly' of city life and is quite quiet and relaxing. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, the room clean and spacious and the food plentiful and tasteful. We stayed for three nights before travelling the east coast of Australia and enjoyed the experience. Money well spent on a hotel that gave us a great start to a brilliant holiday.

We just spent a lovely night in this wonderful hotel. Lots if positives - from a pillow menu to a yummy buffet breakfast. Breakfast ranged from cereals & yoghurt a to cooked foods and pastries.
The room was spacious and the bathroom just lovely. The bath side is quite high and might be difficult for older people to climb in for the shower - but I did ask & rooms with just a shower are certainly available.
We were in Sydney for my brother's wedding just next door at the wharf restaurant - and being able to walk across a pathway to the hotel at the end if the night was just fantastic. A short stroll to the weekend markets caps if a perfect weekend! :)
The price is very reasonable considering location - rare to find anything of quality under $400 a night in Sydney - so this was great. Valet parking guy was wonderful - and a special thank you to Marsha on the front desk for being so helpful on check in. Great hotel - great experience - not our first time & we will be back. :)

Second time I have stayed here, love the view and how they have built the hotel in to the original wharf building. Eat in the restaurant for dinner was good an ok price. Was a really enjoyable 10 min walk to Circular Quay , where I caught the train to the airport. Only negative is a little out of the way from things such as King St, and Darling Harbor etc, but still only a short cab ride
