The renovations have been excellent and reflect the unique nature of what the building was (I assume a pier side warehouse) with the exposed beams, and the nautical flavour. The view of the water and the harbour bridge is wonderful, and the authentic surroundings add to the charm. The service was great, the gym well equipped, and the food was outstanding.

I had a lovely room that overlooked the harbour. Everything was just right. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast got a little hectic and food ran out on the hot buffet a couple of times but the overall quality was great. Free wifi available in the foyer.

This hotel, while beautifully situated, makes you feel ripped off at every turn. I was charged an extra night for checking in after my 24 hour flight at 9:00 in the morning--no warning given. Wi-fi costs $60.00 for three days. Expresso at breakfast is an extra. You are charged 1.5% for paying with a credit card! And it's an expensive hotel to begin with. What a shame.

Room Tip: ask for waterfront view

We stayed here and 2 friends of ours stayed at the same time; we were in a 2nd floor room, they on the ground floor. Despite being described, when we booked them, in the same way the rooms were quite different. The second floor rooms are longer and more spacious but the "balcony" is just a balustrade to stop you from falling out. On the ground floor the room opens onto the pier itself, so effectively you have a small terrace. Our friends did say it was quite noisy.
The rooms are beautiful and feel more boutique than corporate. The TV is a big flat screen, the mini bar good and the beds are superb. Despite comments that I found a little off putting when I was reading about this hotel in trip advisor the bathroom was very clean, odourless and the fact that the toilet is designed to minimise the use of water and makes a surprisingly loud noise ( my wife found that if she put her fingers in her ears the problem disappeared!) it wasn't the disaster that other people found it. Everything else about the hotel was five star, the concierge especially was very helpful. On our last night, due to sheer exhaustion, we ordered room service - both having the home made burger. It was absolutely delicious. The one let down, for us, was the lack of wifi in the room. It's only available in the bar (for a rather expensive fee). There is an old fashioned ethernet cable in the room which was useless for an ipad.
We'd definitely stay here again, the location is stunning we felt well looked after.

Room Tip: upstairs for space and views

The Sebel Pier One is well-located on Walsh Bay. It is within walking distance of the opera house, the botanical gardens, and several fine restaurants. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant is good, and the service is excellent.

Room was spacious but on the ground floor not facing anything scenic at all. Skip the bathroom altogether, the toilet system functions on a vacuum waste system similar to that on an airplanes with one small (glaringly huge) difference. When you flush you have to be prepared to walk away deaf as the resulting noise is not only horrifyingly loud, it goes on for a few good seconds. It got to the point where my partner was afraid to flush in the middle of the night for fear of waking me up.

Hotel concierge is a laugh they were the worst I've seen in a long time, completely unhelpful and told us to walk out and look for a restaurant if we were looking for dinner suggestions - In contrast, our next hotel Sheraton on the Park was not only cheaper, the rooms were better (no crazy flushing toilet), and the service was 100 times better than this.

Not the best start to our weekend away, so glad we moved the next day.

Room Tip: Don't bother.
