Stayed here in earlier Dec 2013 for a night because of work Christmas party.

Really wasn’t impressed with the stay in comparison to price you have to pay.
Location was good, but there are many other hotels in the city that are nicer for a better price.

Really just found it an average stay, rooms were cleans but looked a bit old.
Bathrooms were quite small, hotel lacked good decorations and use of colour and lighting.
Most likely won’t stay at this hotel for the price it charges, just doesn’t seem to be good value stay.

We arrived very early about 9ish and got a free upgrade because our room wasn't ready and they were going to put us into a smoking room and we aren't smokers and got our room straight away. The staff at reception are friendly. There was a couple staff members that didn't know where the restaurants are located in the casino complex, which I thought was a bit disappointed since its meant to be a 5 star hotel. I wouldn't recommend the garden buffet. It was Over priced and the food wasn't really nice. The restaurants at darling harbour are cheaper and the food is much nicer, plus there helps of cheaper n nicer restaurants around. The astral tower was offering breakfast for $35 per person for a buffet (I would recommend to have breakfast somewhere else) lots of restaurants close by and can get a drink and food for around $10 to $20 depending where you go). The carpet was clean and newish but it was a bit dodgy where someones cut a square of carpet from a section of carpet from under the bed to cover up another section of carpet. Overall the place is nice and clean, close to the light rail which takes you to central station, paddys market and a few other places. The ferry warf and bus stops are all within walking distance and close to shops and restaurants and the aquarium.

We got an amazing deal on Wotif for a two bedroom apartment, which comprised of a king bed in one bedroom and a double bed in the other. There were two bathrooms, each with toilet, sink and shower, whilst the main bathroom had a bath. The kitchen is large and well equipped, and there's a washing machine and dryer next to it. The lounge is also big with a table and chairs suitable for 6-8 people.

Whilst the room was serviced daily the washing machine powder was not replenished (so you need to purchase your own if you are intending to stay for a longer period and do more washing - a Coles supermarket is located just across from one of the side entrances in Edward Street).

The gym is very modern (one of the best we have ever seen at a hotel) and the swimming pool is big enough for doing lengths, otherwise you can soak in one of the two spa pools.

The complex is huge, with various eating places, casino, and theatre within it.

It's only a 15 minute easy walk to downtown Sydney (George Street etc) and Darling Harbour, and even closer if you get a ferry.

It's very easy to get a taxi from the front as people are constantly coming and going in them.

The only gripe we had is that WIFI is not free (something you would expect from accommodation such as this - even the smallest of motels we stay at in New Zealand offer free WIFI!!).

The lines to check-in are very long (as mentioned by other reviewers), which is frustrating when you are tired and just want to get into your room a.s.a.p.!

Astral apartments are old and dated.
Stayed at The Darling last year. Miles better
Check in and out SLOW. Think 25 minutes.
Located near Jones Bay Wharf which is uber cool.
Valet service awesome.
Driving to Harbour Bridge is 3 mins north approximately and 4 mins south from Harbour Bridge.
Brilliant location.
15 minute walk to Sydney CBD.
