“great place to stay...”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

Stayed here several times now with not a single complaint. While the idea of staying at a casino may put most families off i can say we loved every minute of our stayys and there was not one time where we even thought about it being a casino (you dont get pokier machines ringing in your ears and thrust upon you every step).
Spectacular dining options, clean and comfortable accomidation, close to everything, public transport in the carpark, awsome staff and easy parking we love it here.

Room Tip: I like the higher rooms... just for the view is all most rooms have ok view anyway though.

If you have to stay at a casino, the least you can expect is enthusiasm. Not so here, where the driveway staffer studied his nails rather than open my taxi door. I was "upgraded" to a 15th floor room which was very comfortable with lots of special light buttons and magically opening curtains and a billowing valance. Bummer about the strong smoke smell in the bedding and carpet. Yes, turns out the only executive floors are smoking. What? The flashback to bad old days was enhanced by robes in shades of maroon and beige and exorbitant room service prices. There was no information compendium because, I was told, it included restaurants which had closed down. The gym is good. The free wifi works once you negotiate a price. And my request for a second night non-smoking room was dealt with efficiently, although the room (apparently still a more expensive one than that booked) was disheartening and faintly depressing apart from, yay, white robes. No doubt this hotel serves a purpose, but If you"re looking for heart and authenticity and taste you may be left wanting.

Room Tip: Take up smoking; the best rooms will all be available to you.

This is the 3rd time Ive stayed at the Casino and 2nd time staying at Astral. We stayed in a 2br cityview apartment this time and was not disappointed. Plenty of Mirrors for the 5 girls staying and two bathrooms was a must. The staff are lovely and friendly. The rooms are fairly soundproof (we were a part of a hens party and there were at least 3 others on our level) we didn't hear anything from the other groups but apparently had a 'noise complaint' which we think may have been bogus as we spoke to the rooms around us. regardless, if your wanting absolute peace & quiet perhaps request at check in that your not near any hens parties lol
Valet parking is great, staff there also very friendly. Rooms were clean, comfortable and would defiantly stay again if the price is right. only thing they could improve is having a little table & chairs on the balcony.. seems odd that theres a nice balcony with cityview and you have to stand around to enjoy it.

Room Tip: ask for cityview. if you want peace & quiet ask for a floor with no large groups ie. hens or buc...

Got a really good deal for winter rates under $500 for 2 nights. Stayed in a two bedroom with two girlfriends on a girls trip to Sydney. The apartment was well appointed and very clean. The beds were very comfortable as were the pillows. It also had the luxury of two bathrooms. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was great with plenty of public transport close by and less than 5 minutes walk from Darling Harbor. There is a coles supermarket and liquorland next door. Plenty of restaurants in the area and very handy if you like to gamble. We ate one night at Sokyo at the Darling. The food was fantastic. Would recommend this hotel. I look forward to staying here again

Room Tip: We stayed in a Pymont view room but we still had views of the city and the Harbor Bridge from out ba...

The room was large, comfy and had all the mod cons from remote blinds and a the tv controls the air con the lights oh and the tv!
The shampoos etc are lovely and the extras you get in the room are so helpful! such as toothbrush and toothpaste (just in case you forget yours!)
The staff are lovely.
Only downsides were - I had the nachos as room service and they were terrible, dry and like eating cardboard! and the cost of the breakfasts were vast but having said that you could get anything you wanted there!

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the harbour

Really enjoyed to stay. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful when an item got left in a taxi. Called the cab company for me, stayed on top of the situation and Michelle in the lobby went above and beyond and returned he item to my room.

Rooms were great. I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with living, dining and kitchen. Could not have been nicer. 20 minute scenic walk to the office in downtown sydney. Located right at the darling harbour attractions.

Will return.

I recently received an offer via email for stays sun- thurs at a very low rate ($180 per night for basic room, $210 for a 2 bedroom and $278 for a star suite). We booked the star suite for $278 on a sunday nightwhich included valet parking, outstanding value. Check in was smooth and efficient, always a pleasure to return. The room overlooked the front of star city, with views of darling harbor, the city, bridge and harbour. The room was fitted out beautifully with 2 large tvs, separate longe area, small dining table and best of all a tv in the 2 person spa. With approx 70sqm there was plenty of room, and the little touches such as Tim tams with the coffee and teas, luxury amenities ect. The complimentary gourmet chocolates and bottled water was also an appreciated touch. We will be back again... Soon.

Room Tip: Star suites are worth the little extra
