Well the price is great for this hotel/apartments, but the condition of the unit one lot of our family group stayed in was not great, we have young baby whom of course crawls and after crawling about on the carpet in the room the tops of his feet were black!!!!!!, not nice at all
The other unit our group stayed in was a world above the first one, better fitted out and cleaner to look at
If seems as if it is luck of the draw at this hotel
The only issue with unit 2 was that there was only 1 key available for the unit and we were on different floors and of course you can only get to a different floor if you have a key with the remote for that floor, when travelling in a family group as we were this was a real pain as we had to work out how to get back into the rooms every time people went out!
Understand the security issue but don't understand why 2 keys were not available like standard in hotels!
We won't be staying here again!

The apartment was clean and spacious, it was well equipped with micrwave oven, cooktop, fridge, separate dining and living room as well as a large bathroom and spacious bedroom. I liked the fact that I didn,t have to get up and attend a set time breakfast, and was able to iron clothes in the apartment. The position is great with a monorail stop in the building and light rail only a 3 minute walk away. Directly across the road from Dixon street, the Chinatown, I was able to buy food or eat out any time. My room faced a central atrium and while I didn,t have a view, I was grateful for the quiet this offered as I believe the outside rooms receive a lot of traffic noise.

The Trendwest Suites have been bought by Wyndham Resort and the property is going through signage issues, which might be the reason why we wandered around Goulburn and Wentworth before we found the place. Once we were there, however, there were no issues with check in or our room.

The one-bedroom room is nicely updated with two televisions (one in the living area that has cable channels, and one in the bedroom with the usual five stations). The dining area was nice, and we had a Juliet balcony that overlooked a snippet of Hyde Park (mostly other buildings, however).

The kitchen is quite small -- there is a microwave and two cooktop elements, and a small fridge. Toaster and kettle were also included.
There was not a freezer, oven, dishwasher or washer/dryer. Laundries
are available in the apartments on floors 3, 7, 11 and 15. I didn't feel like carting dirty laundry up and down floors, so did not use. The kitchen is outfitted with utensils, dishes and the like, but I was less than impressed with the cleanliness of the cookery, and scalded everything before using.

It appears as if the new owners are going to be selling some of the apartments as timeshared units.

All in all, the location is nice (we were able to walk into the city, to Central Railway and Town Hall, and also to the Sydney Cricket Ground, but all were a bit of a walk...FYI), the rooms were clean for the most part, and the conveniences were quite good for the $140 AUD average per night we stayed.

During a month long trip to Aussie I have to say that this hotel was a real "low" in the holiday. The rooms had been recently refurbished are were okay but the staff and the standard of cleaning let the whole place down. There are limited laundry facilities with one washing machine and dryer on level 5 and another on level 7. I spent literally hours racing around trying to get laundry done with washing in a machine on one level and drying on another level and to make matters worse only 1 lift working!! Racing up and down the fire exit staircase was a welcome workout as the hotel advertised a gym but didn't provide one!!! A couple of the staff were extremely rude - I would give this one a miss if I were to go again.

Like others who have posted on this site, we were travelling as a party of seven and had booked the three bedroom apartment seven months in advance. Upon arrival, we were told that the sprinklers had gone off in this apartment and the apartment would not be available for at least three days (we were staying for five days!). However this story changed a few times. We were then squeezed into two adjoining one bedroom apartments, which meant there were folder beds and sofa lounges throughout the lounge room - not very comfortable! We decided to put up with it, until I woke in the middle of the night finding myself and my 8 year old daughter being eaten alive with bed bugs! We did not find the bugs in the other beds, however it was a horrible experience. The management offered us two other two bedroom apartments (which were not adjoined or near each other), however we decided to move hotels. After some persuasion, including producing a bag of bed bugs as evidence, the management agreed to move us at their expense.

We wanted a suite hotel for our 6 night stay in Sydney at the end of 3 months away - needed some space! I was a little concerned with some of the earlier reviews here on Trip Advisor but most of the complaints had to do with construction noise so I went ahead and booked.

We were really happy with our accommodation - although we did ask to be moved to a higher floor due to ground floor construction noise (which is almost done) - our suite was great - a very functional kitchen (the addition of a plunge coffee pot would have been even perfect but they claim they're coming - in the meantime they supply instant coffee and there is a kettle, big toaster, microwave, 2 electric burners and a frig). A flat panel TV in the bedroom and living room; hi speed internet (for a fee). We used the laundry facilities several times and never had a problem with availability.

We liked Sydney so much we rearranged our schedule and returned to the hotel for 3 additional nights.

The location was great for us - we walked to Darling Harbour, the Opera House, etc and a cab ride back was reasonable.

Front Desk Staff was helpful - we checked our bags there for 5 nights when we went to Cairns for a dive liveaboard - all was well upon our return.

For the price ($160US and $195US for our two different stays) and the facilities and the location - it's a great bargain for Sydney, I think

This hotel was our final stop in Australia, before we flew to Bangkok and then London, on a 5 week trip. My parents and I had travelled to Singapore, Cairns, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Adelaide visiting relatives and had stayed in some excellent accommodation (see separate reviews). After reading previous reviews I was slightly nervous of the Clarion Suites but hoped things may have improved.
We arrived late on Thursday 22nd February 2007 to be greeted with the news that our 2 bedroom apartment was unavailable and that we had been put in two 1 bedroom apartments. There was no explanation offered as to why and when I asked for one they couldn't come up with a reasonable answer considering the accommodation had been booked for 8 months! They tried to sell it as an upgrade and said the rooms were next to each other. The apartments turned out to be at the opposite ends of a long corridor and neither had washer/drier facilities, essential on a long trip. Only the 2 bedroom apartments had this!!
The hotel provided "facilities" for the rest of the guests. This was 1 washer and 1 drier situated in an non-airconditioned room off the basement car park. The drier was broken for the whole of our stay which meant wet clothes drying around the apartments. The apartments themselves were simple and clean but in desperate need of some TLC. This goes for all the common areas as well. It is certainly not a 4* establishment.
Our complaints were never resolved during our stay despite complaining several times over the 4 days we stayed there. We submitted a letter of complaint to the travel company when we returned. Apparently they have also received several others. We did not allow this to spoil what was a fantastic first trip to Australia but it was a disappointing end.
Take my advice, spend your money somewhere else until this hotel is sorted out.
