“Close & Comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

After reading a few reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to take a punt on staying here.
I'm very glad we did. Having stayed in a number of different hotels through the yea I was well aware that we were not staying in a resort, or really anything fancy.
I was still pleasantly surprised. My friend and I stayed in a Premier Twin room, and it was perhaps on the small side, but it never felt too small. The room was clean and everything worked, the bathroom was really small, but you could work around that. The shower is something a lot of people commented on in their reviews and I admit it is a strange system, but if you followed the instructions, you got a hot shower. The major downside to the shower was that there was no shower basin in the floor, and as a result the water went everywhere.
There wasn't a restaurant attached, but honestly with The Coffee Club & Subway next door, McDonalds across the road, Starbucks up the other road and then Darling Harbour just a short walk away food really wasn't an issue. Woolworths was also close by.
Check in was great, Check out was great, the staff were friendly and the hotel was SUPER close to everything we needed.
I was very happy with our stay & would stay again.

Dear Emma B
Thank you very much for your review of our hotel. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As you mentioned our rooms are always cleaned to a high standard by our dedicated Housekeeping staff. The bathrooms at our hotel are compact in size but I am glad that it was suitable for you. Thank you for your comments regarding the shower and the bathroom floor getting wet, we look to reviews to provide insight into any issues at the hotel. Our hotel does not have a restaurant or bar, we do suggest the Coffee Club which is located immediately next door to the hotel entrance, and we are 10 minutes walking distance from Darling Harbour. Finally thank you for the positive comments regarding our friendly staff. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the future.
Kind Regards

Please whatever you do, believe all the bad reviews of this place.
Firstly , the good:
Central location, there is a woolworths a block away and the train station is there too. Plus there are some fast food places over the road, but I had trouble finding anywhere close for a nice meal.
Comfortable bed, good tv, good mini fridge, fast lift, and good views from the rooftop.

The bad: now these outweighed the good unfortunately.
THE NOISE! I can't believe any place in the CBD would not have double glazing in 2013. It was unbearably loud. I had to wear earplugs and that is an uncomfortable way to try to get some sleep. All night you can hear diesel trucks and busses roaring away from the stop lights below, and people street racing, and people talking on the street. Sure this is the CBD and I expected that noise, but not for it to enter unfiltered into my room. Also the door must be made of paper as it let in any hallway noise. If you couldn't sleep on the side of the street, you won't sleep 8 floors up as the noise is the same.

The bathroom is old like the rest of the hotel. The shower is in a corner with just a curtain to stop water , which it did ok at, toilet is right next to that, and basin nearly on top of the toilet. It's cramped and had no exhaust fan, so you have to open the window that is in the shower, leaving your top half exposed to the street below. Also I could see mould in places.
This is a no service hotel, as in other than a bathroom and a bed, there are no other services. I was advised that if I wanted breakfast, to go buy it at 'the coffe club' next door.

The room is small and basic. Mirrors are on the walls to make it look larger, there is a queen bed plus a single. Windows open for a breeze to come in, which is a plus, as the rooms get stuffy, and when using the aircon it's all or nothing. There is no thermostat on it so you only have a fan control and it gets too cold very quickly on low, so you can't leave it on and relax.

I regret staying here, the point of a hotel room is to have somewhere quiet to go home to after your busy day out and relax and sleep. This did not happen.

If you expect a basic level of facilities from a hotel, well then this is NOT a hotel. There is no breakfast room, there is no restaurant, no bar nor lounge and no Internet (unless you wish to pay excessive charges), no safe in the room etc. The rooms are TINY and in a very poor state of repair, as is the tiny reception and TINY scruffy corridors. The bathrooms are a hazard as the water gets everywhere through a poor curtain. Sure it's location is beside Hyde Park but if that's important to you pitch a tent there, you'll be happier. It should be closed down. I repeat it is NOT a hotel. You have been warned.

I stayed in a Premier King room on the 11th floor in February for one night while attending a concert at Allphones Arena.

The Good:

- Efficient check-in, with the electronic key working first time

- Clean and tidy room, bathroom and linen

- Fast lifts

- Fantastic location! The hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from Town Hall station. From there, you can get trains to the airport and also it's one stop from Central Station (from which I caught another train out to Olympic Park for the concert)

- Good quality TV

- Comfortable, soft, pillow-top bed

- Plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower

- Could open the windows to let some fresh air into the room

- The 24-hour McDonalds across the road was much appreciated at 1am when I got home... :-P

The Bad:

- "Cosy" (ie a little bit cramped) bathroom, with no shelf space for toiletries

- Shower curtain that allowed water onto the floor of the bathroom

- The curtains let in a fair bit of light in the morning (which wasn't a problem for me as I needed to be up early anyway, but if you're hoping for a long sleep-in it wouldn't have been ideal)

Overall this is a very good hotel; I have stayed many times previously and will do so again, particularly for short overnight stays. As I said in my previous review, it's clean, safe accommodation in a fantastic location. Plus, it's often a very reasonable price compared to other Sydney accommodation.

We recently stayed at the park Regis for a few days. The location is excellent as you are within walking distance to everything in the CBD area. The room was very clean but cosy but with the humidity couldn't get it cool enough. Car park space was an extra cost and over priced with small spaces and not much room to park made it difficult at times.

Dear Marie P

Thank you for proving a review of your recent stay. I am pleased that you enjoyed the location of our hotel and could walk around the CBD area during your stay. I will share your comments about the cleanliness of the room with our Housekeeping staff, it is always good to pass on positive feedback.
All rooms at the hotel are air-conditioned and normally cool the room completely, I apologise that you couldn't get the room cool enough on this occasion. Car parking spaces are available on a first come first served basis, some spaces are larger than others. The car parking fee is $35 per night which is competitive compared to nearby parking stations. Thank you again for taking the time and effort to leave a review of our hotel.

Kind Regards

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. As a solo traveler i booked the small premier double room coz other rooms were expensive. It was nice and clean and big like the standard room. Sydney hotels were all expensive as expected so it's worthy staying at this hotel. Staff were so helpful in anyways just tell them what info you want to know like booking for tour. Nice location for restaurants, bars/ night life, attractions, supermarket, and shopping malls. No FREE WiFi or internet you have to pay for it. I will denitely come back at this hotel if i will travel again in Sydney.

Only ended up here because town was pretty much booked out. Came in to find aircon on full (icy) with no temperature setting available. Take high, med, low or off. Condensation water had not only fogged up all mirrors (which are needed to have the rooms appear as if one maybe could swing a cat with some careful positioning) but was running down all the walls and had made even the bed and more so the carpet clammy. A letter on the desk informing me about the exterminator coming through the place the following day ( a quaterly affair apparently) gave me early warning for the roach in the shower. It was, like the room, small sized though, so barely worth mentioning, despite being on the eleventh floor. TV channels seemed to generally have broken up reception except BBC and NatGeograph. And all that for (!) $300. Thankfully I had a company pay for it. PS: the rooftop pool is an about 8x3 m rectangular affair, with zilch added for atmosphere, or to protect it from the elements. But, to end on a happy note, after having read the signs about how to deal with low pressure in the shower I was pleasantly surprised at how very normal it was. No massage stream but nice enough.

Room Tip: Pay a little bit more, go to the rocks / harbour area.
