“Lovely hotel but a couple of let downs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

There is no denying that this a great hotel. Location is hard to beat, but the real impressive part is the staff - very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. A special mention to Antoine at breakfast who went out of his way to make sure we had a lovely breakfast both mornings, and even remembered what coffee my husband has. The room set up is excellent and the black out blinds are really black out!
There were a couple of disappointments - the breakfast menu is sorely lacking in gluten free options, which given the quality of the hotel is surprising. I suggest that if you are gluten free that you let the hotel know beforehand. Also - our TV didn't work, and after being told that someone would be up immediately to fix it, I called again after an hour of waiting. This was rectified after calling the second time with a sincere apology, but do have to wonder if phone service if below par compared to face to face as after finishing room service and calling to ask them to take the plates away, I had to call again after an hour of waiting for someone to collect them.
Despite this, it was a lovely stay overall but as my husband and I travel to Sydney regularly for work and with this being our first stay at the Park Hyatt, we will continue to stay at other hotels.

DearGuest,
,
Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent stay with us at Park Hyatt Sydney.

We were disappointed to learn of the less than satisfactory experiences you encountered as we place great importance on our guests and always strive to exceed expectations. This is not indicative of the level of service to which we strive, and we will certainly share your feedback with our team so we may continue to enhance our offerings and service delivery at the hotel.

On a positive note, we were very pleased to hear you really enjoyed our breakfast service and were impressed with the service provided by our team. I will also be sure to share your kind feedback with Antoine.

Thank you once again for your valuable feedback and we hope to welcome you back to Park Hyatt Sydney soon.

Kind regards,

From the moment we arrived, our experience in the Park Hyatt was perfection. We have stayed at the best hotels all over the world (earlier this year at the Park Hyatt in Paris) and cannot praise the Park Hyatt Sydney's atmosphere, service, staff, house-keeping (immaculate), room service (quick and professional while delicious), rooms (modern, sleek, and technologically impressive- heated toilet seats, rain showers, remote black out screens). We were greeted by name out of the cab from the airport and warmly received at check-in by an extraordinary friendly and knowledgable front desk and concierge staff that continued to impress throughout the trip. To refute the previous review, we also stayed here on points and are gold hyatt passport members celebrating a very significant wedding anniversary. We were given a complimentary upgrade with a stunning Opera House view and the manager, Andrew, sent a bottle of champagne up before our show at the Opera House (dinners at Aria and Selah-both extraordinary) that made our first night of 3 in Sydney sensational. Move over Four Seasons, our experience at the Park Hyatt has created loyal Park Hyatt customers for life- we are planning our next world travel based on which have a Park Hyatt! Andrew and team, you are perfection. Thank you for making the first leg of our inaugural trip to Australia magical. It was first-class perfection at its finest.

This was our first visit since the recent renovations. We booked an Opera House view and were entitled to an up grade at check in if there was availability . We were immediately upgraded with no prompting on our behalf to a beautiful room with a stunning view. The deluxe room was large, with a very comfy bed and a fantastic view of the opera house and harbour. The bathroom was huge with all the amenities we could want. The staff were excellent, extremely helpful no matter what our request, prompt in service, and very friendly.
Admittedly it is expensive, but definitely the best in Sydney.

Room Tip: Harbour view is spectacular

Just finished a great weekend at the Park Hyatt. Managed to get a fairly good rate for this weekend. Raining all weekend didn't allow much exploring around the hotel, but certainly the Park Hyatt can keep you entertained with the pool and gym. Breakfast in the Dining Room each morning was excellent, and the accommodation package included a bottle of veuve champagne each evening.

The highlight - the service by the staff. Lucy one of the executive butlers helped with a couple of matters, and Antonie in the Dining Room well looked after us each morning (remembered my type of coffee the second morning).

Rooms well presented and spaced, the bathroom set up with choice of shower heads (rain water or wall mounted) a very nice touch. Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: The City room we had still allowed you access to see the opera house (if on the balcony) but otherwi...

A remarkable property. Recently refurbished the rooms are gorgeous, dark woods, beautiful bathrooms and state of the art technology. Add to this the unbelievable location: watch the sun rise over the Opera House, just a short walk away as you eat a delicious breakfast. Gazer up at the Sydney Harbour Bridge right above you. It is perfectly placed for just about everything you need in Sydney and even though I was there on business, I came away feeling relaxed and cared for. It also has the best concierge I have come across anywhere in the world, a guy called Christian. Go there, enjoy. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Room Tip: Harbour view room. We used a suite for to work in...just stupendous.

I stayed in this hotel with my three young children (ages 8, 6, 3). The location is excellent and the service was impeccable. I used the concierge services quite a bit and they were very friendly and helpful in recommending restaurants and sights to see with my children.

We did eat in the Living Room once, which is their casual all day dining restaurant. The food was so-so.

This is one of the most expensive hotels in Sydney, according to my Lonely Planet guide book. It looked like most of their clientele were people on business. However, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and not at all snobbish toward me, a mom with 3 rather loud children. :) I appreciated that.

Sydney has lots of slick, comfortable hotels but it's hard to think of a better one than this. While it's modern and architecturally undistinguished, the Park Hyatt occupies a terrific spot, overlooking Circular Quay from the quiet southern end, with the Harbour Bridge impressively towering above. The whole of central Sydney is within more or less a half hour's easy and pleasant walk. The hotel is adjacent to the Rocks, Sydney's oldest and charming if inevitably touristy precinct, with its waterside restaurants backed by old stone warehouses and less famous drawcards, notably the delightful early colonial Observatory, Garrison Church and Lord Nelson pub. It's also only a few minutes walk from the Sydney Theatre Company's two waterside venues.

Our 'king' room overlooking Circular Quay was spacious and comfortable (and very reasonably priced for the corporate rate we were fortunate to be paying). It had the most enormous bed we've ever encountered - what's the next one up from 'king'? 'Emperor'? Equally vast tv. Good wi-fi and fantastic bathroom with great shower. A teapot was a nice and surprisingly unusual touch. Service couldn't have been more friendly.

Only brick-bats: $40 for one night's garaging seemed a bit steep. We thought the high tech variant on curtains was noisy, laborious and unnecessary. And though we requested the 'Sunday Telegraph' we got the 'Sun Herald'. But overall recommended.
