Novotel Sydney Darling Square (formerly Novotel Sydney Rockford Darling Harbour)

Good location and close proximity to cbd but a good 10 minute walk to mall area. Central to Darling Harbour and Paddy's Market. Decent sized rooms and friendly staff, even to the point of Reception staff hailing a cab from main street for us as pre booked taxi did not turn up for our departure to airport.

This is the perfect Sydney cbd place to stay if you want a downtown location (Chinatown, Darling Harbour etc) with good rooms, economic rates and excellent helpful staff. It's a small hotel, next door to the Entertainment Centre, hence perfect for a dinner, walking or a sight-seeing adventure.

I've stayed a few times as a business guest, but this time we did the Accor Advantage Club voucher night stay. Room on 8th floor (it's top floor) and facing across to the Chinese Gardens. Most helpful reception staff, with excellent room amenities/support and overall hotel facilities. We did our mandatory tours (walks) and sightseeing - even got the Saturday night Darling Harbour fireworks exhibiton around 8 pm (it runs over the summer months).

This hotel is not far from the "other Darling Harbour" Novotel (pink one) and bares nil by comparison in services, rooms and facilities quality. Rockford excellent, pink Novotel poor !.

We'll be back to the Rockford again and soon.

Room Tip: Select a top floor room, facing the Chinese gardens.

Accomadation is expensive in Sydney. We got a great deal on wotif for $140 a night and we were not expecting much. Having been to Sydney many times before we ahd never stayed anywhere so cheap so we did not have high hopes.

Hotel is in a great location, just mins walk to china town (don't bother with the Friday night Market) and Darling harbour with all it bars and resturants.

The room itself was prehaps not as clean as I would have liked (lots of dust build up and a few stains left around the bath tub), but generally it was ok. Hotel has a small and cool pool, which was a delight to use on humid days and a small gym. We didn't spend much time at the hotel so it was perfect for our stay.

They have a nice bar attached called the pump house.... well worth a pint if you get the time

The loaction is the clincher here, so easy to walk everywhere! Rooms and bedding good, nice setup for breakfast for the business traveller which i liked. Quick tip though ask for a room away from the lifts, very noisy!

Myself and my wife were on a recent visit to Sydney and we stayed here for four nights. The hotel itself is similar to other Novotel hotels - the rooms were clean and the stay comfortable. The location was very good. We were within walking distance from many attractions - darling harbour, Chinatown, George street etc and that we is the reason why we booked this hotel in the first place. If location is important and you dont plan on staying in the hotel much(i.e. if you are going to be sight-seeing most of the time), then this is a good choice.

The first thing that springs to mind is the fabulous location of this trendy hotel.Situated near the heart of Sydney's China Town,Paddy's Markets,Entertainment Centre,Monorail and other major dept stores and restaurans. Some rooms overlook a major freeway but thanks to double glazing, noise was not an issue.Staff were very friendly and helpful, when needing luggage to be stored away whilst waiting to depart to the International airport for the start of our trip overseas.I will definately stay there again.

Stayed for 3 nights to attend a friend's wedding. It's a darling little hotel, with a very desirable location. A stone's throw (literally) from the Entertainment Centre, and a short walk from Chinatown and Paddy's Market. The room is well-furnished, and I loved the larger bathroom that we had. Front staff were a hit-and-miss...we had a rude reception staff on one day, and a pleasant one on the other. I guess it's a matter of luck. Note: it's only $30/day to park your car in the car park, compliments of the hotel.

Would return again!

Room Tip: Try asking for a room with a view of the gardens...we lucked out as ours faced the car-park!
