“Terrible Experience - spend the extra money and stay elsewhere”
Reviewed December 25, 2010

While the location of this place is really good, and it looked like value for money, I can honestly say I have never stayed anywhere worse. There is no cleaning service at weekends, and the staff are incredibly rude. When someone tried to access my room, I had to ask them several times to come back later, then I was rung from reception, where the receptionist lied to me about the amenities of the room, which led to us getting into a ridiculous argument, in which she was rude beyond belief. If you arrive out of hours, the reception is closed. I can see how this could work as somewhere for business travellers to stay, but from a leisure perspective, forget it.

The hotel rooms itself were pretty average.
Unfortunately, this hotel had 3 major shortcomings:
1/ Rude staff: For instance, both the staff at the front desk won't look at you while talking to you, they are too busy looking at paperwork.
2/ Very low ceiling in the shower: Anyone taller than 190cm will hit the ceiling because the tub is raised too high off the ground.
3/ Located over a hill: if you plan to walk around, the roads you take to the centre of CBD is very inclined. When you are tired after a day of adventure you'll find it difficult to walk back, especially in heels.
Hope this helps but a 2 months booking in advance got me a room w/ a good view on the other side of the hotel. Also an entrance to Wynyard Station is a 1 min walk on flat surface but that entrance is closed on weekends, so you'll need to walk further... over a hill

well after reading the bad reviews about this place, I was hesitant. However I found the bad reviews to be unfounded. The location excellent, 100meters from the Wynyard station Rail. The rooms were very clean. the service was great, and the staff couldn;t have been more friendly and helpful. As regards to the noise, we were on the top floor right under the overbridge, and we couldn;t hear much.So top marks for this place. The location cant be beat, and would highly reccommend this apartment

We arrived at this hotel to be greeted by a cleaner who asked if we could wait five minutes, he proceeded to clean the windows and front desk while we waited. Eventually he went off and returned with someone who was able to check us in.

We booked this accommodation based on the description of the room advertised on wotif which mentioned "Extra guests accommodated on pull out sofa". This is not the case at all. The staff member at the front desk rudely, and incorrectly, argued that we had selected the wrong option on wotif and that we'd have to pay $35 a night for an extra bed. So in the end we were charged an extra $35 per night for an uncomfortable camping style fold out bed that did not come with a blanket or pillow.

The room was well worn but clean and definitely not 4 star. The shower is an older style bathtub shower which does not accommodate anyone over 6'0 (without them having to squat or bend their neck while showering to avoid the roof).

Besides the location and the relatively cheap price, there is not much else going for these '4 star' apartments.

Not a bad price and a good location , glad we didn't pay any more than discount rate though. Definitely not four star - scuff marks on walls, dated decor , remote control that half worked , tv reception with more snow than Vancouver. Furniture was ok , bathroom was ok for space but marks on walls and poor paintwork meant that the value here was the location but not the hotel.
Room service left a bit to be desired too with a dodgy looking laminated card left on the bed saying that they could not make the bed as personal items were left on the bed !! - These personal items were my tshirt and my fiances left pyjamas. Felt a bit like the rest of the place - it was token effort withl a lazy approach

Didn't even get to stay there. Booked ahead then 3 days before arrival we were told they had no parking. As it was Mardi Gras alternatives were all booked out. Had to cancel birthday dinner reservations. Surely they knew there was no parking when we made our booking

I have stayed here several times and it is relatively clean and cheap - but the furnishings are a bit jaded. One of the staff members was good but the rest were downright rude or just plain ignorant - not sure which. One staff member in particular was one of the rudest hospitality employees I have ever come across.

Not sure if other reviewers were slightly deaf but we were on the third floor and could not only hear constant traffic noise the noise from other rooms was constant - opening and shutting doors, toilets and showers, etc.. That along with the dodgy pillows meant that sleep was not that easy to get.

For an apartment the kitchen facilities are extremely limited. Overall I would only ever stay here again if it was the only hotel available in Sydney - I come here regularly and there are much better options.
