“Not bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

Great location, walking distance to Central station, rooms were good sized, an iron was provided. No assistance with 4 bags of luggage was offered. Breakfast was insanely busy and we were charged again for it, even though I showed a receipt saying it was included in our rate already. Guests were pretty rude, pushing in line to access the lift and to checkout.

As member of Accor Adantage Plus and Le Club Accor, we got a great deal for 2 rooms, overlooking the city. It's right near Central Station, and plenty of buses on George Street to get around the city.
Enjoyed our welcome drink in the bar- nice ambience.
Staff are consistently good in customer service, whether reception or housekeeping or bar staff.
Loved the Pillow menu, and our pillows arrived while we were out to dinner. What a great idea- allowed us to try a new type of pillow without having to buy it first.
Rooms were clean - loved the fuchsia chair - very funky.
Full buffet breakfast including my favourite Indian breakfast - something for everyone here, and plenty of it. Disappointing that they only had push button coffee machines- the coffee was terrible. Go to the little coffee bar on the corner or Michel's instead.

Only complaint is that air con was quite noisy when on high fan - but not enough to deter me from booking here again.

I booked my elderly parents into here for one night. They loved it. Nice and close to Central, very, very quiet, and they were looked after extremely well. My father was particularly impressed that they were able to check in early, and that the concierge took their bags up for them! My mother said the bed was lovely to sleep in and she had a fantastic night's sleep. I've been instructed that whenever they come to Sydney, I'm to book them in here!

LOCATION
The greatest advantage that Mercure Sydney Hotel at George Street has is that it is located right in the heart of Sydney, next to Central Station, within Sydney's entertainment and shopping precincts, and walking distance from Darling Harbour and Chinatown.

Eight of us checked into the hotel on 7 April, 2014.

STAFF
The staff are friendly and helpful.

ROOM
However, the room was disappointing. The room do not have a ceiling light and so at night the whole room was dimly lit by the bedside lamps and one wall lamp near the entrance. The dimly lit room made it difficult for me to do my work or search for things.

There is no complementary bottled water.

The TV had the usual cable channels showing sports, news and reruns of old comedy shows and movies. The movie channel is pay per view and the price is about AUD14.00. WiFi is also chargeable either by the hour or by day.

Maintenance of the room was on the low side. My toilet flush was not working properly and the radio in the clock radio was not working at all. If you took a shower in the bathtub, the glass screen separating the shower area from the rest of the bathroom was not long enough to prevent the water from getting onto the floor mat.

The mattress for me was on the soft side. If you are one of those who suffers from back or neck problems, you may not like the soft mattress.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast area was crowded. Come down early if you are in a hurry to get to some appointment because there is always a queue of people waiting to be seated. Food is above average and staff are always working fast to replenish the food and drinks. There was also ample Asian food too.

There are many tables and are closed together and so you need to be careful when moving around.

They brought me the key ( Nice) for room 1312 privilège floor and wanted to pay for my coffee.
The guy Amir said pls wait for my collegue for the Check
