The hotel is in a great location for those wanting to get around the city and nearby attractions.
Buses are at your door in George Street to take you to places such as Circular Quay for ferries and The Rocks historical precinct.
You can also walk via subway to Central station for all train services and light rail which takes you via Paddys Market, Chinatown and Star City Casino.
Also in the hotel precinct are lots of little eateries, such as sushi, chinese and german bakery Luneburger and Aporto.
Great place to stay and road noise is very quiet/

The Mercure is convenient to Central Station and is a reasonable hotel. You pay more than you'd like, but everything is expensive in Sydney. The hotel was clean and the staff were efficient. I slept well, so that is a good sign about the bed and noise levels.

Who would have thought that a Sunday afternoon check in would take 30 minutes just to get to the front of the cue. The room had no openable window and the airconditioning unit was very noisy. The bed was very good and so was the breakfast.

The mecure Sydney is well located close to paddys market and city centre actually almost everything is close by and within walking distance. Transport is outside the front door, buses, trains and taxis. We stayed in a room promoted for families which comprised of 2 double beds. Well we found the rooms pokie, really small and for 4 people in one room is was very tight. The pillows were too soft and the beds had certainly been worn in. And are tired so we ultimately did not get a great nights sleep there. I would suggest 2 people max in these rooms. Everyone was friendly which was nice, breakfast area was good, interesting though when you ask for something that's not in the Buffett area you pay extra I.e a small omelette was an extra $6 where in most you get as part of breakfast. Overall, the mecure is well located in Sydney, it had good leisure facilities like the swimming pool and the gym, but the room we got was not designed for families as promoted, it was a bit dated - noticed in foyer they are soon to renovate as well....I found it expensive for what we got as well, but that is Sydney!
