“Great location”

This hotel is in a great location in the CBD, good links to pubic transport, The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are helpful. However on the down side did experience some billing errors for the mini bar and final bill , this took longer to resolve and delayed the check out despite informing reception every day of our three day stay.

After an enjoyable meal at Darling Harbour one evening, we decided to head back to the hotel for a drink in the bar. We arrived back at the hotel at 10pm. However found both bars closed.
10pm closing in Sydney CBD ?
Nevertheless enjoyed the stay rooms are comfortable well furnished and clean

I have just returned after spending 5 nights in this very well located hotel. For our purposes being close to Central Station was ideal and even for buses and light rail the hotel is very well situated. Breakfast was included in our room rate and this was a huge bonus and was also varied and delicious. The staff were friendly and accommodating and our room was serviced each day to a good standard. However I do have one gripe, Internet charges. They are exorbitant. After having recently spent 5 weeks in the States and not paid at all for any Internet usage, $10 for 30 mins was ridiculous. not even the foyer had complimentary Internet. I seriously think this will hinder many business people for using this hotel and would certainly make me think twice before staying there again. Wake up Mr Manager, guests are not the way to recoup your fit out through the hotel for wifi.

We stayed in a family room, which was very comfy and quiet, being at the back of the hotel. I found the bed very comfortable, but not so happy with not being able to open the window and having to rely on AC for fresh air.
The room was clean (apart from the dirty window outside) and house keeping was very helpful with all extra requests. The bathrooms had the shower over the bath, ours will soon need a bit of updating.
Breakfast was included and there is a bufett with large pastry, cereal and hot selection plus yoghurt and fruits. Nescafe comes from a machine and the large selection of tea bags was nice. It got really busy around 9am, with guests waiting for vacant tables.
The hotel also has a fitness area and small swimming pool which was refreshing after a days sightseing.
Outside the hotel are many buses and the central railway station, it's a few minutes walk to Chinatown. Just outside are many eateries/ take away or the hotel has a bar too.
Afterall, I think you'll get good value and will probably stay there again.

Room Tip: if you need a quiet room, ask for the back of the hotel

We chose the Mercure Hotel Sydney because on a previous visit of five days we had received excellent service, so we thought we could not do better than return for another visit, and this proved to be true. The room was spacious, the view over the city beautiful and the bed and the bedside lighting very comfortable and convenient.
