Its been a few years since we stayed here last time and it remains a class hotel.
This time we stayed only one night and had a standard room. The room was a good size, nicely appointed and a good view looking west (it was a high floor). We could also get a glimpse of the Harbour Bridge but we needed to look at quite a sharp angle.
Bathroom had a combined bath/shower and the water pressure and water temperature were both good. And nice toiletries.
Location is superb, with the Opera House and Harbour are only a few hundred metres down Macquarie Street and the Botanical Gardens across the road.
We didn't use the hotel's dining options as we took the short walk down to Circular Quay where we ate enjoying a view of the Bridge and other harbour lights.
Returning after dinner we had a nightcap in the hotel's Cortile courtyard bar. An elegant setting.
We found all the staff at the hotel to be friendly and welcoming, especially the concierge staff.
There is parking at the hotel for an additional charge, and if you are driving, be aware that the car entrance is not in Macquarie Street but is in Phillip Street.
We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: You pay extra for rooms with Club Lounge access - but the Club Lounge is excellent with awesome view...

Stayed at this hotel for the first time, and very impressed. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Really liked the decor and design of the entire hotel, Club lounge area welcoming.
Staff professional and friendly. Value for money, we got a great deal. Actually I cannot fault this hotel,
We visit Sydney regularly and usually stay elsewhere with harbour views but from now on this will be our first choice

Spent one night, but stayed before

The good
- the view on the Opera, Circular quay, or on the Domain.
- location is convenient
- the king bed room was large enough for two, (and for a baby cot - on previous stays)
- What a comfy bed!
- good size bathroom
- Wonderful buffet breakfast. Enjoyed the scramble eggs, and... everything!

the not so good
- hotel is showing his age (a little bit - nothing to be concerned).
- water pressure in the shower not that great

We stayed in a harbour view room with seperate bedroom and lounge area.i was expecting great harbour views from this room given cost and description online. The room was good however the harbour views centre feature was the large building in front of the intercontinental..eastern harbour view would be better but i was told no family rooms were available on that side.If you want large room for family of 4 and great views I suggest you chose the Shangri La in Sydney..better hotel, rocks location, light and open rooms...they have the best!!we also asked to check our the club lounge but couldn't because it was after 5 pm and we had our children with us...shame..

Stayed in Sydney many times and this was probably the best. We did the Club lounge which cost
an extra 165 to just the room but worth every cent. Got drinks and canapés in the Club lounge before dinner. They were included in extra cost but the staff were excellent as kept offering more drinks and the canapés were excellent. Then had breakfast(included in extra price) in the Club lounge. The view is awesome so is worth the extra money just to sit there and take in the harbour view. I have previously stayed at the Shangri-La, which I love but the room costs about the same as here but there is no breakfast and canapés and drinks included so the Intercontinental is great value for a romantic getaway.

Room Tip: We had the Eastern harbour view but I'd say they would all be good but I think if you pay extra...

This intercontinental pales to those i've stayed at in KL and Beijing. It's a bit dated but the service is excellent. Rooms were OK but the beds and bedding was excellent. Very very clean throughout but pricey as most Australia hotels tend to be.

I got early check-in at 7AM so that alone score points with me.

The brekkie selection is limited but of high quality.

The location is walking distance to the airport train, opera house, and bricks. Getting a taxi was always a breeze.

The staff is not wanting of anything and you'll be well served.

You could do a lot worse that this hotel but with the Shang, Marriott, and Four Seasons near by, I'd think I'd give them a go next time.

Wow....I was not even staying at the intercontinental but some honest soul found my wallet on the street outside and gave it to Dave the concierge. Dave went to the trouble to track me down and call me to make sure I got the wallet and enclosed cash back......fantastic service ---a class act.

Thanks.
