Friendly staff a special thanks to friendly young man who checked us in. Upgraded to harbour view first time ever and it was just wonderful. So handy to everything. Quiet room and just overall made our holiday so enjoyable.

We love staying at the InterContinental in Sydney. The location is great, the rooms are large and comfortable and they always make us feel welcome. Parking is also very reasonable for Circular Quay which is a plus. We will definitely be staying here again.

The InterContinental in Sydney is easily one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Located just five minutes away (walking) from Circular Quay & Sydney Opera House, I had a great experience here as a guest when I stayed on business travel in October 2013. From the attentiveness and high levels of service of the staff to the room and the view (great view of Darling Harbor Bridge) and the quality of the food in the restaurant - the hotel was just what I needed for my five night stay in Sydney.

One of the most thoughtful aspects of the room was actually this little 'window' from the bathroom from where I could actually watch the TV while shaving. Now, that's something I would like to see in more hotels for sure.
.

I am definitely staying here when I visit Sydney next.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a clear view of the Opera House/Harbor bridge since there are quite a few really...

This hotel was absolutely perfect for our two night stay. From check in to check out everything was great. Got a good view of the city side. The customer service was impeccable. Everything we asked for was received. The location was great for us being tourists. The concierge gave excellent directions and suggestions of things around Sydney.

Room Tip: The higher floors are a lot better!

All aspects of our stay were perfect. We had pleasure to spend here 6 nights and did not encounter any shortcomings. The location couldn't be better for exploring the city. Beaches, museums, restaurants, gardens, shops, even mountains... everything is easily accessible, if not walking distance, there is always a mean of transport within 3 minutes walk. You cannot beat the ferries. Even if you don't fancy a smim make sure you visit the pool for the views. The hotel is spotless and the team very professional but with a genuine friendliness.

Recently had 2 nights in this hotel. I arrived about 9.30am after a long flight and a room was ready when I arrived which was very welcome indeed (maybe just lucky but the hotel did seem very busy) and check in was friendly and efficient. It is a beautiful old building and the location is fantastic as it is very close to the Circular Quay and all that has to offer. There are great views of the Bridge, Opera House and harbour from the (indoor) swimming pool on 31st floor (which can be a little bracing). The rooms are typical Intercontinental - well equipped, very comfortable beds although the bathroom was fine and everything worked well, it was little dated. The concierge were extremely helpful giving advice on how best to see Sydney with limited time. The bar areas are very nice but, like most places in Sydney, are not cheap ! I would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Sydnet whether on business or leisure.

Room Tip: Try for a high floor with a harbour view.

I was disappointed with my stay at the Sydney Intercontinental. The good aspects were, typical of Intercons, service was impeccable (and cheerful), room was very nice, and everything was squeaky clean.

Unfortunately two aspects force me to downgrade this property. First, I did not find the location to be as perfect as have others. It is close to much but there are almost no restaurants or anything within a block or two. Plus it is a long uphill slog from Circular Quay which would be problematic for those with physical limitation.

And, its reputation for not being friendly to IHG Rewards members continues. As an IHG Platinum member we were to have received various benefits such as an upgraded room (the "unavailability" excuse was expected) and a small amenity in the room. Also, they do not play fair with Rewards Points, giving us only 3000 points total for a 3 day stay whereas a two day stay two weeks later at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney resulted in over 7000 and one night at the HI Sydney Airport garnered 1500.

Dear Kairho1

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

I apologise that you found some aspects of your stay to be disappointing. Firstly, many people find that our hotel is in a prime location; however, I can understand the issues you have raised. Secondly, I see you are unhappy with the IHG Rewards program. I would like to assure you that we do fully participate and supoort the program. We make every attempt to upgrade members such as yourself to the next room category and I apologise that we were unable to grant you an upgraded room on this occasion. Regarding the issue about number of points allocated, the Terms & Conditions for IHG Rewards explains that members can receive 2000 points per stay at InterContinental Hotels outside of the United States, while Holiday Inns around the world provide 10 points for every dollar spent. I apologise if this was not clear to you when you enrolled, but I do hope this explained the program to you more clearly.

I hope your overall stay with us was enjoyable and we hope to welcome you again one day.

Warm regards
