“Great room, service and location!”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

The Intercontinental Sydney is superbly located in Sydney.

The service is great at Front Desk and through Room Service. The rooms are really well appointed - with good desk space and very comfortable beds.

Only negative is the price of breakfast, I just cannot justify spending that amount - so normally just pop out for coffee and breaky in the AMP centre across the road.

Always a pleasure.

I picked the Intercontinental because I had an early international flight out of Sydney Airport. While the airport hotels are cheaper, they are, in comparison, rather down at heel. The Intercontinental was first-rate: the views are stunning, and the rooms really good to relax in (and close to great walks in the Botanical Gardens and The Domain). For my purposes, what was really good was that it is a very short walk from Circular Quay station - which gets one speedily, right to the airport.

We stayed in December 2012 as part of a family holiday.

An excellent location for key sites. A five minute walk to Circular Quay and the various landmarks in that area. The hotel is very clean, staff very attentive and always acknowledging your presence. The food services were good value and the bar area a nice place for an evening drink - even if expensive.

There was great views from the top of the hotel, including the in door swimming pool. Better than normal gym facilities. Spacious and well furnished rooms.

We stayed at the Intercontinental Sydney for 6 days over NYE 2012 - while a beautiful view of Harbour Bridge and the Opera House doesn't come cheap over NYE, we felt it was worth every penny, especially when the Club level access and lounge was included. Service, rooms, and overall ambience were uniformly excellent. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The best rooms include a great view of both the Bridge and Opera House, but get a high floor since t...

I have stayed here a number of times and as expected an excellent hotel. The rooms I have had each time were city views and were fine, the staff are knowledgable about most hints, although we had a priority privilege card and did not receive any of the discounts, these were applied at check out but our credit card was charged again at a later date, also as a platinum priority rewards member none of these benefits have ever been offered at this hotel.

The location is great and close to transport.

Room Tip: The city view rooms are fine

Almost everything is great about this hotel - very friendly and courteous staffs and management, location, room, cleanliness, etc. But booking for countdown online was quite strange. We booked in November and saw only city view rooms and very expensive suite harbor view rooms available. Then suddenly after booking a non-refundable city view room, in mid December, many harbor view rooms became available. Fortunately, the hotel booking staffs were very kind to help re-arrange our booking and we were able to change to a nice Harbor Bridge view room. The only drawback is that we have a very tall apartment building in front that blocked the Opera House almost completely. But despite the building, the room has a nice view of the bridge and we were able to stay in our room and watch the fantastic fireworks.

Room Tip: If you want to book this hotel for New Year, do check online a few times to see if some good harbor...
