“Good Hotel - But price may put people off”
Reviewed September 15, 2011

The intercontinental range of hotels obviously is in the higher brand of pricing. However does this one in Sydney, deserve to charge the rate that they charge? I don't think so. I've been to a few intercontinental hotels around the world and their facilities and services have been far greater than the ones available here. It's a good hotel but the price should be lower than what it is at the moment. As for the service, porter was really good, customer service staff were also really good, so the service of the staff is there but the facilities simply aren't compared to other intercontinental's. Hopefully this will be rectified in the future.

We stated for 4 days in September. Check in process was long and there was a wait after a long days travel.
Once we got our room it was Very small! The bathroom was like a broom closet and the facility was totally outdated. Show over tub!! Need I say more. We are platinum ambassador members which means we spend a lot of time And money at these chains. Not only was there a long wait then we actually had to call down about an hour after we finally got our room for our " welcome fruit and water" that sure made us feel even more welcome. This hotel is so dated that there is not even wifi in the rooms!! Seriously?! So no way to hook up
Your modern technological devices unless you are traveling with a laptop. Not only were we disappointed wih the hotel but also the level of service and staff. Our bellman even got in a verbal argument wih our taxi driver the morning we finally left infront of our children- un acceptable. I would say stay elsewhere I sure will never be back neither will my company. I have never been so happy to leave a hotel.

I've stayed at this property twice in the last 10 days, once for business, once for leisure. The rooms are modern and spacious. The bathroom is a bit small and I hate the shower over bath!

The service is excellent.

I love the location as I enjoy a morning walk around the Opera House and through the gardens, but if you need to attend meetings in the heart of the city, you may have a 10 - 15 minute walk.

Overall very good value and I will be keen to stay here next time I'm in Sydney.

Room Tip: I stayed in 1411 and then 1911 - I particularly asked for a quiet room and apparently the 'eleve...

The room was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was a little small. The room provided a wonderful view of the Royal Botanical Gardens and a partial view of the Sydney Opera House. Within walking distance of the Sydney Opera House, the Circular Quay and other sites. Concierge and wait staff were courteous and most helpful throughout our stay.

We stayed in a club room at the Intercontinental Sydney, Australia.

Location: Excellent, within a short distance of Circular Quay
Transport: Excellent, taxis no problem, bus stops on the road outside. Train from airport stops at Circular Quay.
Sightseeing: A short walk from the Opera House and Circular Quay
Rooms: Very nice, tastefully decorated.
Staff: Very Friendly
Food; Very Good

Now the best bit...

The Club Lounge. If you take a club room, you get access to the club lounge.
If you have never been to Sydney before... this is a must - honestly. The club lounge has wraparound windows and doubles as club breakfast area. The view from the Club lounge balcony is THE BEST IN SYDNEY - no kidding.

Waking up in the morning, going up for breakfast and just looking out of the window... WOW.

Imagine this... the sun is shining, you are sitting on the club lounge balcony with a cold beer... in front of you is the opera house in all its glory, to the left is the harbour bridge... and all you have to do is sit there and take in the view. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. you can sit there all day looking at the city stretched out in front of you.

The harbour bridge walk is great, but the view from the club lounge is much, much, much better. At night you can see clear across the city and the street lights and traffic of sydney... really nice.

Word of Warning.... dont even think of booking for Christmas/New Year... because of the views its booked solid every year.

Advice: GET A CLUB ROOM - You will not regret it!

Room Tip: Club Room, Harbour View - a must
