“Great Family Hotel and Location”
Reviewed December 23, 2010

My family and I stayed at the Hyde Park Inn from 10 December to 13 December 2010.
I spent ages trying to look for a hotel in the Sydney CBD which not only catered for large families but was also friendly on the pocket. After an extensive internet search and with the help of Trip Advisor, we settled on the Hyde Park Inn. I have a family of 5 and we stayed in a Family Deluxe room on the 9th floor which consisted of a queen bed and 3 singles. Our balcony looked over looked the beautiful Hyde Park. The room contained a kitchenette, bathroom and all the usual mod cons. Just be aware though that all the beds are located in the one room so if you want your privacy, you would be better off booking a family suite. A continental breakfast is supplied in your room free of charge each day. The cost per night was great @ $242 for the 5 of us which was by far the cheapest I could find, especially for a 4 star hotel in the heart of Sydney. A few tips......
Transport:
We flew in from Melbourne and caught the train from the Airport to Museum Station which is located across the road from the Hotel....This was expensive! It costs $20 per adult & $10 per child, a total of $70 for my family. We ended up booking a private maxi cab through the hotel on return to the Airport and it only cost us $50. Apart from the Airport train, I must say that Sydney has a great public transport system. Buses arrive/depart frequently every 3 -5 minutes. The bus stops are located on either side of the road and close to the Hotel. The 555 bus is free which takes you around the CBD to Sydney Harbour and the ferry service. The mono rail is within easy walking distance to the Hotel with the World Square stop only a 2 minute walk.
Attractions:
Darling Harbour is a comfortable 10 - 15 minute walk or you can go by mono rail. A good food court which is relatively cheap is located there.
China Town is a 10 minute walk.
Paddy's Market a 15 minute walk and you can also take the mono rail there.
Sydney Harbour a 20 - 25 minute walk. I suggest a bus if you want to give walking a miss or catch the ferry from Darling Harbour.
Shopping:
Well you're pretty much right in the city centre. Try the World Square, Westfield Shopping Centre (which is a bit more upmarket that the Melbourne stores), plus the many malls.

Overall, my family thoroughly enjoyed the Hyde Park Inn and the Sydney experience. We would return again to this Hotel because of the cost and great location.

Thankyou.

We were 3 nights at the Hyde park inn. Location is great, and city train station is within 50m. The kitchen in the room has all you need and complimentary breakfast is sufficient for starting your day. Next to the hotel there's a 7/11 shop which is open all day. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Stayed for a 2 night stopover en route from NZ to UK. Even on the 2nd floor, the good windows and efficient air conditioning meant that the traffic on Elizabeth Street was not a problem and location is excellent for buses and trains as well as having a nice outlook onto the park and being an easy walk to shopping, eating and attractions.
The standard studio included a double and a single bed, cutlery and crockery for 3, fridge, convection/microwave cooker, toaster and kettle, armchair and settee, table and dining chairs and plenty of room for bags etc as well as ensuite shower room - overall very comfortable. A big plus is the provision of the makings of a continental breakfast in the fridge - cereals, milk, fruit salad, juice, bread, butter and spreads as well as the normal tea and coffee.
We also welcomed the lack of high priced "mini bar" offerings - we resent the attempt in so many places to tempt or trick you into spending over the odds on stuff left in the room. Here, everything there was part of the deal. Great!
Altogether a very satisfactory place to stay in Sydney if you are happy with comfort and convenience without pretention.

We chose this hotel because it represents great value for this location for a family of five. What we didn't expect was that the staff would bend over backwards to be helpful at this price.
When the wheelchair I had hired for the weekend didn't arrive, they found a chair for me, pumped up the tyres and let me borrow it for three days. They were polite, friendly and very efficient.
We stayed in room 807, a family room, and found it to be comfortable and spotlessly clean. Far exceeded my expectations!

I booked for my parents and I last minute to stay for one night whilst we were in Sydney for the Eagles concert. Had no idea what the hotel would be like as we normally stay at the large chain hotels. I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is right across the road from Museum Station. Even though we were only 3 adults they put us in a family room that comprised a double bed and three single beds Also had a kitchenette with cereal, juice, tea, coffe and toast for the next morning. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful view of Hyde Park. As my parents were coming back to Sydney in the New Year with friends we enquired at the front desk about the different room type and the receptionist advised they have a room that can sleep up to 6 people. She even showed us a standard double room. I thought it would have been quiet small but I was very pleasantly surprised. I will definately return to this hotel and skip the usual chain hotels in the future.

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Hyde park Inn in Sydney. We loved it here and would definately stay here again. The price for these serviced apartments was extremely reasonable and they have a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge etc. Iron and ironing boards are provided in the room, the room is large with very comfortable beds. Staff very accomodating and they even have a guest lounge which we used as we had a late flight in the evening. If you are staying here and coming from the airport, then get the train its alot easier. You basicaly have to get off at Museum station which takes about 15 mins, its about the 5th stop. When you walk out of the station at Museum then you will see the traffic lights, cross at the lights and turn right, you will hyde park inn sign just a few minutes walk. Very easy. Hotel was centrally located and you can walk to the harbour in about 10 mins.

Cant fault the hotel was lovely and would stay here again.
