“A great place for families to stay, we'll be back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2011

I stayed for one night with 3 of my children, to attend a performance at the opera house. The room was a great size, and immaculate, with everything we needed, plus an amazing view!! The breakfast provided was a great touch, as I was on my own with the kids it made our stay so much easier, and the servings were definitely adequate. The location was great, and made it so easy to get to circular quay, and I didn't find the noise to be that disturbing. We were in floor 14, but I had the balcony door open about a quarter, and all 3 kids slept soundly.
I loved that there was a DVD player too, as the place we stayed last year did not provide one.

We booked Hyde Park Inn over the internet and were happy with our choice. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.
It was pretty central to everything we wanted to do and see. The rooms were spacious - the kitchen was not that well equiped but adequate. Breakfast was very good and delivered to the fridge daily. Housekeeping not that good, towels not changed even when left in the bathtub, but that said really nothing to complain about.
We were happy with our choice, and if had another holiday in Sydney would return.

Self-rated as 4 star but 3 star at most. 2nd floor room was tired, noisey from road traffic & the whole floor smelt of stale smoke. We asked for a non-smoking room but were given a smoking room and the manager became cross when we would not stay in it. They would not provide any alternative so we lost our money.

I have now stayed several times at the Hyde Park Inn for work and found it very satisfactory. Although it claims 4 stars, the lack of facilities means it is a good 3 star premises. I have used it for longer stays, when there is a real advantage in having a kitchenette for self-catering. The location is excellent for getting to most places in the CBD and it has the added benefit of being directly opposite the Museum Station in Hyde Park, This is a station for the train to the airport. Although the train is an outrageous $15 a ticket, and it has no facilities for luggage, it is still the best way to ad from the airport, especially during peak hour traffic.
Try to get a room as high as possible in the hotel. This will help reduce the street noise - which is a factor here - and you will get a good view over Hyde Park and what a real estate agent would describe as "harbor glimpses". They have been doing refurbishments for a while now but I have not found that they create any inconvenience. The rooms do need an upgrade. The bathrooms are small but adequate, although no bath. There is internet but it is slow. There are no in-house dining facilities. The price does include bread, yoghurt and juice for breakfast.
Overall, I would recommend this for anyone who values self-catering. Both the location and price are excellent. If you are looking for 4 start hotel facilities (and perhaps peace and quiet) then I'd look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the highest floor possible.

The deluxe room we booked was more than adequate in size for two people. It included kitchenette with microwave and stove top. The room was serviced daily (towels changed/bed made/bins emptied) but nothing was moved so it meant where there was something on a surface, that whole surface wasn't wiped down or dusted. Front desk staff were generally pleasant and any requests to the front desk were dealt with promptly.

The Inn is on the fringe of the CBD across from Hyde Park and within reasonable walking distance of alot of the sights, shops and the harbour.

The only downside of our stay - the noise from the street below (vehicles, sirens and people). We were on the 8th floor and with the ranch slider and the window closed it was still really noisy. Some work is being done to upgrade rooms and hopefully double glaze windows but in the meantime ear plugs are an absolute must for any light sleepers as Sydney never sleeps.

Room Tip: Try and get a room higher up the building - might lessen the noise from the street below.

Just excellent! Opposite Hyde Park, wonderful staff, fantastic rooms...they've thought of everything...plenty of lights, mirrors, beautiful bathrooms, white fluffy towels, comfortable beds, kitchenettes, glassware and crockery in tip top condition, table and chairs you can actually sit at to eat and lounges to relax on. We've been to many hotels, but keep coming back to "Hyde Park Inn" in Sydney again and again. Oh, they even have a complimentary light breakfast included in the tariff and free secure parking. Public transport isn't a problem either with bus stops to all parts of Sydney only a minute's walk from the door.

Just up from melbourne for Mardi Gra , so needed a 2 bedroom apartment.

Was nice to have a balcony but so noisy when the balcony door was open.

The place is ok but needs a refurb thats for sure. The bathroom is tired and a bit yuck

The hallways were a little smell and the carpets need a good clean .

It was handy to be close to everything and have a big space but you do pay for that.

The staff where nice and pleasant.

The parking was a nightmare , the spots are too small to get in and out easily and took allot of effort to not hit other cars ..
