“New York City Buzz”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

We stayed in a Deluxe Harbour View room, which you guessed it, has breathtaking views of the Harbour. Being just that little bit back from the water means you can get the ‘big three’ into the most boastful of shots – glimmering Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House. And you can even do this from your plush king size bed. Rooms have a very masculine edge to them, with browns, dark wood and soft lighting. While the bathroom is soaked in elegance with Italian marble, Appelles Apothecary toiletries, and a deep tub you’ll just want to retire in.

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra and treat yourself to the executive club

We returned to stay at the Four Seasons after touring Australia and before joining the QM2 which docks at the nearby Cruise Passenger Terminal.

It is always a pleasure arriving at the hotel as from the minute you arrive and are greeted by the cheerful doormen, you are made to feel welcome and important.

The front desk acknowledged we had stayed before and we were upgraded to a junior suite, which was a nice touch. There was a lot of conference guests staying and I assume this plus the fact we were returning guests helped. Either way it was a great surprise and a real "wow".

The room was huge and had windows on two sides. One looking straight over to the Opera House and so we could see what ship was in each day, and the other over to the Harbour Bridge.

The bed is King Sized and very comfortable. I especially like the Four Season's pillows as very soft. The room had a chaise lounge by the window which was perfect for sitting on to enjoy the ultimate view of the coming and going on the harbour. There was also seating area, large desk and bathroom with separate bath tub and shower. I also like that wifi is included and fast. A real bonus having just stayed at a similar grade hotel in Melbourne for 4 nights and had to pay $29 a day for it.

We had access to the Executive Club on 32nd floor and the breakfast was remarkable! There was a chef there to prepare eggs to order as well as selection of hot and cold food. Evening snacks and drinks were also available.

We used the fitness centre and pool most days. The fitness centre is large with a lot of equipment and so always machines available. The pool is big enough to swim laps in.

The service is friendly and efficient without being over-the-top and liked that staff make a point of recognising you.

We were worried taxi drivers would be difficult about taking us the short distance from the hotel to the cruise terminal but the doorman handled it all and we had no issues.

Loved the experience, the views, the room, services and service!

Room Tip: You have to get a harbour view - and high floor

My husband and wanted to choose a hotel in Sydney with an Opera and bridge view and we weren’t disappointed. The Four Seasons is in a perfect location. We stayed in a Deluxe City Harbour View room 1914 and it was perfect. The large window gave us the view we desired. The huge bed was sumptuous and heavenly and the bathroom was lovely. We ate breakfast in our room and the room service menu was extensive. We also ate in the Woods restaurant for dinner with its open kitchen, delicious food and wonderful waiters a truly special visit. If you eat in Woods definitely have the fish to share and the lemon tart they are to die for.

Room Tip: Room 1914 has a wonderful view of both the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge

Very good staff and friendly. We had canapés and wine on arrival that were delicious and breakfast the next day that I couldn't fault. The king size bed was very comfortable and I had a great night sleep. The hotel looks a little run down from outside but the foyer and the inside is very classy.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone

We only had one night in Sydney so pushed the boat put to stay at the four seasons. It was well worth it. We were in a full harbour view room. Amazing is the only word to describe it. We also had access to the executive floor. Again well worth a few extra pounds.

After an average experience at the Swissotel, i decided to stay a night at the Four Seasons.
From the outside it looks a bit dated, but inside is really nice. Checkin was a breeze with my room not quite ready at 2pm (checkin is 3pm), so i had a drink and a late lunch in GRAIN bar which was nice. It's nice to sit, have a drink and watch the world travel pass George Street.
My room was ready at 3pm, so up I went to the 20th floor. Room was small but very well appointed and comfortable. Large TV and comfy bed was great. I had room service for dinner (the club sandwich), it was delivered promptly and was very tasty. I did put the card out on my door handle to receive a newspaper, but alas it did not appear in the morning (next door had one handing on their door), but a quick visit to the concierge desk and they provided me with my paper. The located, just near the rocks and Circular Quay is great for tourists. Lots of things to see and do around that area as well as plenty of options for eating.
All in all, it was a nice stay and felt a bit more classier than the Swissotel.

Room Tip: If you are a family, go for more than a standard room because they are small and probably only good...

It's ultra-competitive in the high-end hotel space these days. They all have a pre-programmed 'welcome' script drilled into their receptionists. But the scripts fall down when there is a minor 'off-piste' moment; in this case changing the name on a bill. They were not too 'quick on the draw' in answering the phone, either. It is very hard to differentiate at this end, and the four seasons did not pass. The intercontinental (which we also stayed in) was slightly more sincere (but only just).

That said, housekeeping was exemplary; giving a full service while we went out for a morning jog. And the turndown service was good. The pool was not that big, but maintained to an exemplary standard. And the concierge kindly kept our luggage for six days.

A very good stay, and I would recommend the Four Seasons, But it is so competitive to provide a memorable service.

Room Tip: City view is good. Harbour view a treat.
