Outstanding hotel for a celebration week to meet family and friends with stunning views. Staff welcomed me jet lagged with a Birthday cake and an upgrade to a high floor room with a view of Circular Quay and the Opera House!
The window sill was a padded seat where I sat night and day often taking photo views which I will post.
Staff at every level amazing and all friendly and helpful.
Booked the Private Dining room on the top floor for a Birthday Brunch. The restaurant has ceiling to floor glass windows.
Had the best memorable birthday ever. Fully recommended.
Have to confess I arrived and brought rain but it cleared the smoke and reduced the danger of fires.
Suspect I will often return from UK in January/February to escape the winter months.

We were lucky enough to stay at this amazing hotel again 11-14th Jan, and what a fantastic time we had. We cannot recommend it enough, and the friendliness and service we received in the Horizon club was outstanding. Special mentions to Sheikh Seddiquee, Francesca M, Marguerite and the rest of the team - you are simply 'the best' and you service and attention to detail was second to none. Can't wait to some and stay with you all again.

Room tip: club rooms overlooking the opera house and the harbour bridge are amazing

We were very impressed with thew view from our suite capturing all the stunning sights of Sydney Harbour. The check in was fine although there was a lengthy line. We waited patiently and then were told we could have checked in at the club (a service well worth advising when we were met by valet?). The hotel lobby was very crowded and busy, full of luggage most of the time. The service was fantastic from the staff in the club but lacked elsewhere in the hotel. The food was disappointing and dated and looks to have not changed since the 90's along with the carpet. The rooms were clean and nice. I've had better experiences in Sydney but the view carried it all.

Compared to many Shangri-La properties, this one is quite outdated. The rooms aren’t really up to the standard one would expect from a 5* hotel Shangri-La, but I believe they have started a renovation process recently. The rooms are an excellent size, however, and the Opera House views are some of the best in Sydney. The breakfast was nice but quite corporate and didn’t come close to the quality offered by the Sofitel Darling Habour, where we also stayed during our time in Sydney. For the price point we were happy with our stay, but if you are looking for a real luxury trip I would suggest the Park Hyatt or the Four Seasons next door. The staff at the rooftop restaurant were extremely abrupt with my partner and I when we visited. Not something you would expect being an in-house guest.

The reception, the room, the view, the restaurant and the situation in the city = nothing can be much better. We loved the entréer stay and Will come back next time in Sydney. We stadde for four nigits.
