We stayed here for 70th B/Day. I booked a package which included B/Fast. City/Opera House Views. Price quite reasonable considering the location. I asked to be upgraded to Harbour View (which was of our magnificent harbor) which was accommodated. Very helpful staff. Good size rooms.

I arrived at 08:00 but surprisingly my room was available, which helped immensely after arriving from London just two hours before.

It has everything you'd expect from a 5-star hotel, along with a ludicrously expensive breakfast buffet! There are cafes just down the road in the Rocks area where you'll get much better value.

The room has a good sized safe and free wifi. The Altitude bar has fantastic views and of course gets very busy so there's a queuing system for the window tables. The drinks aren't too pricey either.

Having now stayed at the Langham (while it was still the Observatory hotel), the Radisson and now Shangri-La, I can highly recommend all of them!

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights from Friday to Sunday.

It was for a wedding anniversary so we booked a Horizon Club Opera House City View Bonus Choice package through the Shangri-La website - per night cost was $407 AUD.
We chose the $90 dining credit bonus as we saw this as the best value and ended up using it in Blu Bar - although cocktails are around the $20 and up mark so we only got 4 for our money.

Like others have said the Horizon Club rooms/packages are definitely the way to go - the rooms are on the highest floors and all the drink inclusions etc make it worth the extra cost.

We were in Room 3119 which is in one of the back corners but we still had a view over the Circular Quay and the Opera House to Sydney Heads. The best views may be from the more expensive rooms but if you want the view then just go to the Horizon Club Lounge or up to the Blu Bar at night.

The drinks and canapes for Horizon Club guests were between 6pm and 8pm - I suggest you get there early if you want a table overlooking the harbour especially if you're there on a Saturday night. It's a great view as the sun sets and we also got to see a big cruise ship depart under full lights - noice!

We didn't have breakfast in the Horizon Club as it was only "continental' so we went down to Cafe Mix both mornings for the buffet- excellent choice and have no complaints, you even get a barista made coffee and eggs cooked how you like them .Not sure what anybody could complain about so please ignore the whingers!

The bottle of sparking wine in our room was a very nice touch too.

Great location close to The Rocks, Circular Quay, the Opera House etc.

We checked out late on the Sunday which was great as this is included in Horizon Club packages/rooms.

To sum up I can definitely recommend the Shangri-La Sydney - no complaints!!

Room Tip: Choose a Horizon Club room as they are on Level 30 and above.

My husband and I recently spent the night in a grand harbour view room on level 22 of the Shangri La Sydney. My expectations of the hotel were definitely high as this was the most expensive hotel we had ever stayed in. We were not disappointed and would certainly recommend the Shangri La Sydney to anybody looking for somewhere special to stay with harbour views. The views from our room were amazing!! And the hotel itself was faultless. I hope that I am lucky enough to experience another stay at Shangri La hotels & resorts across the world in the future.

We spent a night at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney following a really busy year and we were looking forward to a relaxing and beautiful evening. Unfortunately, considering both the price and the star rating of the hotel, it was quite disappointing.

On entering our room, we found a half eaten cracker underneath the bedside table and an apple underneath a chair.

We arrived in time for the evening canapes and was told someone would come to take our drinks order but it took about 15 minutes before we were offered any drinks and ended up having to go and find someone despite our efforts to get someone's attention. Overall though, the canapes and drinks were lovely.

We decided to get room service of which we were really surprised at the incredibly high prices for the room service, and I suggested that the food would be really fantastic and we both ordered something from the main menu. The food took over an hour to be delivered and when it arrived, was a mixture of cold and soggy.

The breakfast the next morning in the Club Lounge was quite average, again considering the price and the star rating of the hotel. The food had a "disinfectant" taste and the food was never available consistently (ie: the eggs were empty and the mushrooms were full... then when the eggs became available, the mushrooms were empty - seemed a little odd). The juices had been quite significantly watered down and the coffee was not really very nice.

On check out, we found out that the parking, which had been quoted at one price, was actually going to be charged at a cost $50 more. We accept that we may have made a mistake in this issue but it was very disappointing that the hotel management just told us to essentially suck it up (obviously, not saying that specifically).

None of the above is enough for us to completely dismiss this brand in the future as we understand that nothing is perfect all the time, however, the handling of the above issues (or lack thereof) by the management or staff, was really not good enough sadly.

Room Tip: The Club rooms were sizable with great views.

A bit pricey, but this hotel was top-of-the-line. I had no doubts I was staying in one of the best hotels in Sydney. Room was clean and spacious. Bathroom was superb. Staff was extremely professional and helpful without being intrusive.

Located in The Rocks, near plenty of fine dining, shopping, and sights.

We loved our stay at the Shangri-la Hotel Sydney. We had an amazing view of the harbor bridge and the Sydney Opera House. It was especially beautiful at sunset. The staff was great and helpful and the location was perfect, being right near the Rocks area. Our room was on the 25th floor and was expensive, but worth the price.

Room Tip: Harbor view, high floor!!!
