“Wonderful Location-Wonderful Marriott”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

When I booked this hotel, I didn't know that I would be recovering from a broken foot and hobbling around in a boot cast. So I was delighted to discover how centrally located it was, how accessible from the airport train and tourist buses and how small each floor was (no long treks to the elevators). Even with my cast, it was not difficult to walk to the Rocks neighborhood, the Opera House and all of the ferries, which we used extensively. This location was a bit better than the typical Marriott in decor (no weird carpets) but the post-modern decor allowed for no dresser or nightstand drawers, which made it necessary to live out of suitcases instead of being able to unpack. This minor inconvenience was only bearable because of the PERFECT location!

We stayed for a few nights prior to a cruise holiday. It was brilliantly located, directly opposite circular quay and we literally walked across the road with our kids, luggage and other family and hopped straight onto a massive cruise ship. So if cruising way to go ! As far as hotel goes, very well appointed, quality breakfast and dining area, pool was basic and small with tiny spa, shopping a hop skip and jump away and we enjoyed the ambience of the foyer - was Christmas and huge tree made kids day. Staff super helpful and friendly. Trip was made from this starting stay.

Room Tip: No so much about room - but brilliant Chinese one block over opposite circular quay is 2 stories and...

Upon arriving at the Marriott on May 1st, 2013, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff and after telling them about our 2nd Anniversary, she gave us a second upgrade (1st upgrade was due to being a Gold Member) as well as access to the Executive Club. Furthermore, the Concierge was extremely helpful and when asked about Cinco De Mayo restaurants, did not have an immediate answer, so later that night he personally sent a list up to our room, which I thought was above and beyond. Amazing facility, amazing location, I would stay there every time I am in Sydney.

Travel Well.

Room Tip: Bridge or Opera house view is a must. Ask for a high floor.

This Marriot is not perfect, it could use some renovation and it feels a bit dark inside.
But the service is so much better than everything around! And the price is so much better...
The rooms are nothing spectacular, but they are very functional, with full amenities, good bathroom, good bed, etc.
Great location too.
In my opinion, if you are paying for the expenses ourself, this is really the place to stay.

This Marriott is a nice hotel. It is in an excellent location, the rooms are very clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the hotel staff was really accommodating and helpful. My husband and I showed up early after a long international flight, and the staff in the execute lounge (Carletta ?) was so nice to us and made sure that we were comfortable, and led us to an arrival lounge where we could rest and put our feet up before our room was cleaned. The hotel made every effort to accommodate us and we greatly appreciated it. We were really pleased with everything that this hotel had to offer, and we would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: A view of the Sydney Harbor is nice.

Good hotel but Sydney has gotten expensive. Nothing special about this hotel but the location is great. It is right in the downtown and you can walk to the Rocks (lots of good restaurants), the opera house, the gardens and the circular quay ferry.

I worked over near Manly Bay so took the 30 minute ride over there for $7 Australian. Nice views and very pleasant with my Starbucks in hand (the Starbucks is near the hotel on the way to the ferry).

Room Tip: The taxi from the airport to the hotel is about $65 Australian and takes about 45 minutes. You can...

Just a very short walk to Circular Quay which is a great place to start when visiting Sydney. All basic hotel requirements are met at this hotel. Staff are well trained and efficient. A professionally run hotel that is well sited for business or leisure.

Room Tip: High floors with view of Opera house are worth paying extra for.
